Hi..Phil makes a very good point...I live in Iselin and have a 135 reef with MH Lighting, a Main Return pump, several in-tank powerheads/stream pumps, a heater and a recirculating pump on my skimmer. The history of power outages in my house over many
years has been that although they occur a few...

Bill's advice is right on the money...Keep it simple...Any LR and the skimmer will help a lot...If you don't go with a skimmer (not preferable), do small, but frequent water changes. Also if you go with a 20 Long, make sure lighting will not heat thewater too much, perhaps T5's vs PC's...
Hi All
My reef salinity is kept at 1.025 to 1.026 and the animals (SPS, LPS, Softies) seem to be happy and growing.
As for fish only tanks, I suggest 1.019 and if possible, the use of a UV Sterilizer especially if: 1)it's a large system with many different species of fish; or 2) it's a tank...

Bill asks an important question about what kind of fish he plans to keep. The answer will directly affect other issues raised in the thread such as whether to use cooper, how deep a sandbed to use etc. For example to me, big fish = lots of detritus = shallow sandbed or as DaveK notes...

While not having direct experience with using a plenum, I can say that a friend who used one a number of years ago was very pleased with it. His only caveat as I recall was taht care had to be taken in constructing it properly so that nothing reached or disturbed the bottomost layer keeping...

Any aquarium (SW or FW) particularly fish-only ones require the following...a tank, a filter, a heater, lighting, periodic water changes and good husbandry habits such as no overfeeding, overcrowding or mixing incompatible fish. Under these conditions a canister filter is more than OK...

If you've got the room (and budget) go with both external pump & skimmer. The main advantage as I see it, is ease of maintenance,
which faciltates more frequent cleaning.
That said, ALL of the combos you list will do the job provided the skimmer and pump are properly sized for the type...

I have a similar faucet adapter (had to look for it) that you can borrow until yours arrives. Instead of of a switch that you turn to direct flow between sink and RO unit, mine has a pull/push pin that does the same job. Just let me know if you want to borrow it. Call or PM me.

Keep thr frag rack up higher in the tank. These Gobies don't really like to be out in the open too long. Also, the longer you have these guys, the more used to your feeding prcess they become and if you are feeding cyclopeze/rotifer sized stuff along with the usual frozen fare, you should...

If you just need it for topping off and if its not a lot of water per day, go with the distilled water until the valve arrives.
It shouldn't be more than a day or two away (if you ordered it a few days ago).

PS..You could also call any of the LFS's near you and ask to buy some.
I'd go with Nikon or Canon before I went with anything else. If you're getting into DSLR you're making an investment of a lifetime. The lenses you buy now will grow with you as your body (the cheapest part of owning a DSLR, IME) upgrades. You want to buy into the best system you can NOW. I'd get...
Hi
I have an Aquanetics 1/6 HP droop-in type chiller that I bought some 10 years ago. Haven't used it in a few years, but back when I did, it performed well. How old is your unit (new?) and what type of thermostat came with it? If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer them if I...
