    I'm alive....with new company

What do you mean, Deb & Brian when you say you "almost" want a new puppy? C'mon, you both know you want one really, really badly. :) Well, the vet visit went pretty smoothly. He's up to 20.2 pounds now. I opted to have him vaccinated against Lymes disease, but believe I won't be repeating that...

    american bulldog

GULP! :o Holy cow, I see a major weight loss in my future. :-X I know our other dog won't be able to keep up with Oscar, but he has gotten in better shape since his arrival. 2 miles a day? Yowser, I better start shaping up quickly. Another question for you: Yesterday he received his booster...

    I'm alive....with new company

Today we're going to the vet, to continue his vaccinations. In the meantime the little bugger has been keeping me quite busy. He is now fully house-broken. :) Welcome to my playground :-X

    New addition to the family

Mike, Dozer is B E A U T I F U L!!!! What a knock-out! I'm about to speak my mind about your last statement, please do NOT take this the wrong way: You said you found him a girl-friend and to watch out for puppies. That sounds like you're going to use him as a stud. 1. He is MUCH too young...

    I'm alive....with new company

We bought him in PA from Dawn Morrow. :) Bax: OMG, I'm so sorry to hear about your foot. This wasn't the first time I broke a toe. In fact I'm not supposed to have my left big toe anymore. When I was 17 and while on vacation, my horse stepped on my toe. The doctors wanted to amputate it because...

    I'm alive....with new company

LOL Phyl. He does look like a peanut next to Max, doesn't he? Now that you said that, I found myself calling him "peanut". His little teeth are razor sharp. Another nickname of his is "Piranha". The biggest challenge thus far has been to teach him that hands and body parts are NOT chew toys...

    I'm alive....with new company

So I learned the hard way that I'm not 20 anymore, and can't get around as quickly as I used to. I managed to break my big toe while chasing after Oscar. :-X I literally fell INTO the house, over my own shoes, and not only felt the crack but heard it, too. Since I refused to be put into a jumbo...

    UG Filters

(Paul, I believe you can edit a post only a short period after posting it, but that's merely guesswork on my part. I know I've been able to modify my posts minutes after posting, when I realized I had made some typos.) Thank you so much for all the pictures and the stories. You are a true...

    UG Filters

Paul, I've seen (and drooled over) pictures of your tank and fish. It's living proof that UG filters indeed do the job. Could you please post some pictures here for us? I personally have used UG filters for all my freshwater tanks, and back in the late 80s, when I set up my first saltwater...

    I'm alive....with new company

Phyl, Alex takes Max to Belmar (15 minutes from us). Each time he's done it, he was out of here by 7AM. Nobody is on the beach at that time, other than fishermen and people with their dogs. :) Zenni would love it! Is she a runner? You may want to put her on one of those retractable leashes...

    I'm alive....with new company

Thanks guys. ;D Phyl, this next picture is for you. We held our breath as Oscar woke up from a nap, and approached Max, who was on his dog bed, gnawing on a bone. Max growled a little when the pup tried to take the bone from him, but that was the extent of it. Here's a picture of Max on the...

Need help with a wild baby bird

Not true. Birds don't rely on scent at all. Touching a baby bird will not stop the parents from raising it. I took classes on Wildlife Rehabilitation when we lived in Oklahoma, and specialized in rehabilitating song birds. Greg, worms are fine, but the moistened dog food is even better. ;) You...
