Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I have been running a JBJ AutoTop off for 3 years without a problem. Never had a hickup. Like all devices bases on float switches, you have to clean them once in a while..
This code will follow the Moon rise and set per calendar:
If Moon 000/000 Then MON ON
Keep in mind this is using the Moon rise/intensity schedules built into the controller. Most people don't realize that Moon rise and set isn't the same as sun rise and set.
If you just want to turn them on...
If you are talking about the Pinpoint Calcium Monitor here: http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_AquariumPage~PageAlias~controllers_american_marine_pinpoint_calcium_monitor_information.html
Don't waste your money. A ton of people have tried them and gotten rid of them. They have to be calibrated...
This sample assumes RTN is the return pump, plugged into DC8 plug one.
RTN - A01
If Time > 00:00 then RTN ON
There is an advantage of putting on the AC3 if you aren't over the power limit. In my case, I monitor for a power out condition, since my DC8 is on a UPS, I can shut everything down...
When making the water are you letting it mix for 24 hours?. If you are just stirring it in, then yes it will be cloudy. If you are putting it in a bucket and putting a powerhead in it to mix it and aerate it, then it will be clear in a few hours, but it is considered good practice to let it...
Jim, there are a number of studies done (though older studies) that support the theory that Carbon looses most of its absorbtion after the first 2 weeks, it still operates, but much less effective after that.

Its a sticky in the Reef Chemistry forum on RC.
FWIW, the numbers for RC are right on the money. With exception of the bad batches they had last year, that is exactly what I get (and I test every bucket).
Do some research, these are just the big 3 numbers. Some of the salts that look high in something might have some other properties you don't want (like Boron). the other thing to consider is that some of the ones with high CA and MG numbers are so expensive, you could just by IO and add the...
Here are the CA/ALK/MG numbers for a lot of salts when mixed to 1.026. This is based on testing done by billybeau1 from the Reef Central Chemistry forum as was done in 2008. Billybeau1 is recognized as a leader in test kits analysis in that forum.

I have my maxijet 1200 using 1/2" tubing and it is over 20ft long with a good 6-8ft rise and it has no problems at all. Filling the 40 gallon breeder sump 1 inch in 1 minute.
