That price range I listed was for the retail price, but I'm looking used so I can keep it around $200 or less. $200 is enough to get what I need, but the DC skimmers are gonna be at the edge of my price range, if I can even find one used.
About my rockwork. The tank is 24" tall, so I didn't want a lot of wasted space up at the top, so the right pile of rocks is ~17" tall, leaving maybe 5-5.5" to the waterline there. Should I try to bring that down to maybe 14-15" to leave room for stuff to grow in?
If I could find one used, I'd...
I swear, eventually....this thing will be a reef.
Here's my 65 gallon tank with a 20L sump and stand....and disorganized basement, but we can ignore that for now.
Here is how I piled my rocks. Didn't really have a plan or knew what I was doing. Would appreciate some constructive...
Oh geez. Going back to math class. Uhhh pi x R^2? So 1.5^2 x 3.14=7.065 and (1^2 x 3.14)x 2= 6.28, so it would seem that 1, 1.5" pipe is larger than 2, 1" pipes.
Thing is it's not dried rock, as in once live and has now sat on the beach for a while or dried out, then immediately shipped out. It's ancient, dead for quite a long time rock. What living creatures would still have remnants of itself left on the rock after this long? My worries, I'd think...
Of course. Seems like in the past and still sometimes on their cherry-scapes, Marco Rocks used Fiji rock or some other previously live, but now dead rock, so I wanted to see how others fared with their "Key Largo" mined rock.
I'll rinse it no matter what. Just gonna stick it all in a couple...
Is it necessary to cure marco rocks as it is not dried live rock, but mined from an ancient reef now left dry.
I figure at the least I'm gonna rinse it in RO to get off the dust/dirt/sand, but was unsure if curing was necessary when starting a new tank.
Plus I still don't this answer in...
Here's what is says now:
"30/11 US New Jersey Warehouse Start! All Jebao wp40/ wp25 can delivery to East within 2 to 5 days. Our CA Warehouse also will start on Dec! Order more wp40 will lower shipping fee!"
Love the broken English, lol. I'm pretty sure that's what they're saying though. New...
I saw one of those at the Kia dealer where I bought my 2000 Mazda 626. The salesman had to drive me from the to the parent dealer across the parking lot to sign paperwork in his Optima, I was surprised at how nice it was, inside and out. And I got a pretty good deal on my Mazda. I guess no one...
For comparison, the best my "IN" TDS looks like is ~12ppm and I run my RO(it's a Spectrapure unit) with the manual flush valve open until the TDS reading gets to that point, which takes about a minute. Again, I have ~300ppm TDS water though, which is what I attributed my DI resin being used up...
Asking for suggestions is the same as not posting a price. I will say that most used items, be it for aquariums or anything else are usually priced 30-70% of what it cost new. Obviously you would adjust within that range based on the condition, age and desirability of the item.
If you really...
How long does your DI last? My last cartridge went about 4 months before giving me 1-2ppm readings. Most of the city water out this way has pretty high TDS.
Don't kid yourself, we really are on a whole other planet out here, lol.
For tank bred fish and aquacultured corals, your best bet for something close by is gonna be the places along/near 22. There's a bunch of places along 78/22 like OGII in North Plainfield, Elos in Short Hills, Pet Shanty in...
I may be one of the closest to you. I'm in Clinton Twp. Not sure what the closest decent LFS is for you. There's one in Flemington, Pets Plus. The stock looks well cared for, but it's a smaller store.
Thanks. I think I'll avoid the spray can, just so I can find a way to do this inside. I have to paint the living room before x-mas, so I may just wait to paint it at the same time, that way I can do it away from the tank and it's warmer up there then my basement is with the windows open, lol...
