I don't own one of these controllers, I have a RKL, but I've yet to use it. My point is that if you set it to -1 hr for the fall back and you set a +1 hr for spring forward, why would you ever have to change the code?

That's exactly what I was referring to, but you have to find one that will let you switch the wires from NO to NC operation otherwise it doesn't work.

You can use a spring wound timer, like for turning on a light/fan for X mins. Just have to find one that you can switch to normally closed(as in the circuit) rather than normally open. Then you crank the timer and it pops back on once the timer runs down.

You could try to cut a hole into the side panel of the stand, so long as that wouldn't require you to cut into anything structurally important. If you can't cut the side panel and slip the sump out like that, I'd just get a new tank for a sump. Way easier to do that then to break down the tank.
