I had that problem with the siphon hose my self. One end out of the tank when i wasn't looking and a wet floor.
Then again i had the time i started pumping water up to the tank from the basement but forgot to open the drain valve. Lots of water on the floor. :'(
i do have Vho's on the FO tank. I'm not saying RO is not important. Moment of inner reflection i had just at that moment realized i don't have that algae problem in the fish tank with good old tap water.
I believe he said he uses ro/di water. Funny i don't use ro water on the fish only tank and don't have hair algae, yet in a reef you need it. Guess the fish keep it mowed down.
I had a copperband in each of my reef tanks. Never had a issue getting them to eat mysis shrimp. They can really keep the aips in ck. Had to buy them on faith as neither one ate at the store, then are a bit skidish when first introduced
Looks really good ED. Your doing a great job. Looks like you have spent a lot of time planning and its paying off. Can't wait to see it with water in it.
I would not use a canister filter on a reef tank except if i needed a rapid cleanup. That being said i have used a canister on my reef from time to time to run carbon. I use the Magnum 350. Seems to work well. I used to use this on my 150 gal fish only tank as the primary filter back in the old...
Wendy your algae is not that bad especially for a newer tank. All tanks seem to go through an algae outbreak in the beginning although not all are hair algae. The only time i had to deal with the hair algae issue was when i neglected the tank for awhile. Relatively easy fix or me was frequent...
Thanks Rich, i'm still a ways away from actually needing any corals. Heck don't even have the tank in the house yet. I'll let you know when its all setup and ready.
Ok i'll try some vinegar.
Thanks for the offes on the frags. it will be awhile before i'm ready for any.
Going go be mostly SPS but need to have a few LPS just to give it some motion if you know what i mean.
Oh well down to the basement i go. More to follow
As i had posted earlier i will be setting my 120 gal reef tank up once again. I have alot of the equipment and supplies from before. Tank will be in my kitchen but can not bring it in until the flooring is replaced. Conditional thing with Terry to replace the flooring. This will be done on...
I guess i will have to wait to see them before i decide. Never cared for the blue look, always liked a crisp white. The 400w may over power the actinic but i will be running 250w. At least i think i will. i have both the 250w and 400w ballast so i could go either way. i always had trouble with...
All i can say is WOW! Great tank Bill can't wait to see it in person. On the lights you mentioned three 400watt. What K are you running and are you running actinics with the MH? Did i miss the demensions on this monster. I always thought Malcholm had a huge tank but i think this may be bigger.
