thank you!!
thanks Matt. I have Red Sea & Hanna for Alk. Phos I have Hanna and API -- which I don't trust. I'm heading over to THR now to see what I can pick up
I'll start the baking soda tomorrow. How much water do you mix with the 6 TBLS?
and what could cause it to drop so fast?
Phosphates are all over the place. I use the Hanna and the margin of error swings a lot.

My Alk has dropped off recently - any suggestions how to safely get it back up?
Heres my log (changed my lights in Feb, swapped the CO2 for the miniCal in March - seems like the drop started then

I thought the Ca Reactor would suffice but I suppose not. I looked and the only things I see are some spiroid worm skeletons on the underside. None if the fish pay any attention from what I've seen.
I have some brightwell stuff to add in to help buffer things but maybe I need to move from the...
not yet - I brought them up over 4-5 weeks, a little at a time. Everything was so light starved b/c of my old bulbs I was afraid to scale it back now. If I could get my hands on a PAR meter it would take a lot of the guessing out of this...
I’m hoping to get some advice so I have tried to be a thorough as I possibly can be – hopefully this covers everything….
I’m trying to figure out, could this be an issue with my light spectrum from my new LEDs since it seems to be mostly one color area? By contrast, the blue & green stuff...
Update on newly added coral. It all has done well acclimating to the tank and lights. the purple milli isn't as colorful as when Matt brought it but seems healthy and the pink lemonade is not easy to read. It may just be that light in color but I can't tell if its doing anything. Also the purple...
I have maybe 6-7 trochus. Maybe 75-100 dwarf cerths a dozen or so nassurus and a few Mexican turbos. Also assorted hermits. No emeralds left and my urchin died a while back but they're too much trouble. I lost 2 frags b/c they got carried off somewhere. The urchin liked to pick up anything. My...
just gotta have faith
- j/k. I'm not sure - it was recommended as an alternative to “Red Slime Remover” and after it was recommended a couple times I researched what I could and several people used it successfully. I believe the theory is that the additive (the snow) attracts particulate...
Really just the green. The pink I assumed was coralline or sponge. The bubbles are a fluke from that pick. I just did a water change and some bubbles are introduced when I add the buckets to my sump. I know I have a cyano issue that I'm working on now using coral snow with red slime remover...
Thanks Matt!!
as long as I'm updating things here is a current FTS - this is with the new lights as follows:
whites @ 80%
Blues @ 90%
Mixed Colors @ 75%
percentages are on the Rapid (not so special) controller and the driver pots are turned down pretty far. I figured at this point I had no need...
Thanks to some fellow club member’s generosity I was able to reintroduce some “reef” to my reef tank.

And a HUGE thanks to Matt (MatteZ) - most of these are unidentified – he brought so much I completely lost...
Am I in trouble? Does this look like it’s Bryopsis? Or some other nuisance algae?
I just started noticing it in the last few weeks – since I got my new lights running. I have GFO, Bio pellets and a small clump of chaeto in my fuge. I haven’t changed the GFO recently but I don’t have much of...
A/V Salinity - because I like the container and the lid....
...well that and I did what research I could when I first started and it seemed to be consistently well reviewed and per gallon it was not much more expensive than the run of the mill stuff (and it seemed cheaper if you factor in the...
I agree with your comments re. the failure rates but in fairness i got mine long after the warranty expired. Had it been earlier they would have sent a kit to replace the magnet yourself. It's a very easy swap. I bought mine years after the warranty so I'm not sure how reasonable it would be to...
