Thanks for all the help everyone!
I think two K3s would be the best way to do it.
I plan on having a few low mounds of rock in the middle of the tank so the flow would be unimpeded from one end to the other.
I am going to get in on the Hydor group buy...I just need some help on choosing which 2 pumps to get!
I cant do a sump right now. :(
I travel a lot for work and I need something that my fiancee can easily manage should something happen. I cant afford a "your plumbing is leaking (again)" phone...
We men are very sensitive folk, you see.
I am sure if we knew HALF of what our wives/girlfriends/fiancees said about us to their girlfriends...holy moly, I dont even want to think of it.
I dont mind the husband bashing.
In fact, it gives me a chance to scope out the opinion of the "other...

Thanks again!
Well, after some soulsearching (and a few long discussions with the boss AKA fiancee) I have decided not to leave the hobby altogether, but rather change focus to a SW FOWLR tank and skip the reef for now. Too much time and money for me right now.
So I came up with a solution...plan FIRST and...
HA! Exactly.
I am trying my paper towel trick now to see what happens. Slap a vinegar soaked paper towel on the side. I will keep it moist with a mister if I have to.
Im doing a square area on the worst side to see if there is an appreciable difference in the area I am soaking as the area Im not
Yeah...just doesnt look like even 45 minutes mattered at all! :P :P
Im a bit worried about leaving a 48" bowfront tank on the thin side with 2 cats in the house!
Sounds like it should be shutting off. ??? ???
Have you tried selecting different modes on the controller?
If you have it set for the mode for 2 sensors (mode B) then it WONT shut off when the sensor rises because it is waiting for the second sensor to rise.
In Mode B the drop of the bottom...
Little update.
I was soaking it for about half hour - 45 mins. Used the kent scraper and it did nothing at all. Turned it back up just to see and it is still very hazy.
I am wondering whether it is worth all the hassle.
I may just fill it and see how it looks.
Would a few gallons of vinegar...
Sounds good.
This is actually one of the sides that is bad. Probably the side that was near a wall and not easily accesible to scraping or magnet cleaner.
I am actually going to run a hang-on Remora skimmer on that side so it probably doesnt matter anyway.
But I am going to buy 3g of white...
Just purchased a used 72g oceanic bowfront.
Very nice tank.
After cleaning there are a few areas of the tank that are foggy.
Straight razor doesnt take it off.
One panel is especially foggy. The other side and front appear to be OK.
Will this be noticable once the tank is filled?
Any...
My experience has always been different types of gobies are usually OK together. Sand sifting/bottom dwelling gobies (watchman), perching gobies (clowns) and free swimming (firefish) can do fine in a large enough tank together.
On the other hand, I wouldnt try to fit more than one sand sifting...
