May 12th- Windy day, saw 4 people catch striped bass off clam on one of the Jetties I fish on- Caught one bluefish and got a little wet with the wind blowing against the incoming tide. Bummer day, but it was exciting to see the fish biting again after being cooped up at home all winter- I went...
I went out with 5 other people on the freespirit this past Sunday. Caught Drum up to 82 lbs. There's drum being caught everywhere from what I heard in the bays.
On May 15, I caught one off a jetty in Longport, NJ. 57 lbs 8 oz. Video link is located in the Open water section.
If you guys...
thanks, it is a sunset montipora
James, I find it hard to see the differences sometimes too, but look at the edges of the corals and the number of branches (new growth, thickness, etc...)

- no signs of skimmate production increase with the new combination. No...
Anyone else willing to step out on a limb here- I know there are a lot more of you guys out there. Don't be scared to post, its only a forum!
and the jokers need to quit. I'm trying to work here :D

long term "exposure" to nitrates is what's bad for corals. As a matter of fact, some softies don't mind some trace nitrates in the tank, and even clams benefit from it. Most people who keep hard corals prefer to keep the nitrates lower because it keeps the corals colored up nicely (along with...
frag money went to prodibio, 600 gallons of salt and Amino acids :) and still have about 20 frags or so left, lol. Yes, I'm still running the Procolor (similar to Fiji purple)
Some comparisons side by side (First pic is last week's, second pic is yesterday's):
a while ago, some bulbs wouldn't fire with certain ballasts, I know there was an issue with the older Icecaps firing certain bulbs, but that's changed now. I have used Aqualine Buschke's, Iwasaki's, XM's and now reefluxes, and they all fired in my EVC tech ballast and my current Icecap 250's...
Try out the 10K XM's, they are a nice crisp white with a slight tinge of blue. If you want a compromise, try out the Reeflux 12k's, not too blue and still has decent brightness
Croceas and Maximas require the most light. They occur in the shallow reefs and within rock structures and nestled between coral heads, and would need to be close to the top of your tank under your MH's which is fine.
Deresas and Squamosas will do just ok in the bottom of your tank but you...
hey bill, how much are their crosshatches? and maybe bluethroats? and what size? I've always liked the crosshatches myself, but I'm afraid that their size may work against me again-
