I have pretty much everything you described in my 24 DX, although I havent tried SPS. All seem to be doing well, acans and candy canes extend their tentacles all the time. Growth is slower with my zoos, but the teal palys have taken off. Id say 20 percent growth in 6 weeks, about 15-20 new...
Hey guys,
I ordered the 3x36+1x24 heatshield upgrade from nanotuners along with a true actinic bulb. I was thking about throwing the actinic in for the time being until I can re assemble my spare hood with the new heatshield installed, and transfer my other ballast over. Any thoughts on this...
Remove the acrylic cover and take out the bulbs, check the pins in both the bulb and socket. Remove the heat shield and take a look at the circuit board, fan plugs etc. Any type of water damage or corrosion will be visible, sometimes it turns green on circuit boards.
Another place I think might be good for collecting is Island Beach state park. It runs all the way south to Barnegat Inlet, I always wondered what was over there. I spent many summers on the rocks at Barnegat Light, but theres not much in terms of seining. At Island Beach, its more of a beachy...
Reef Encounter is a good one, if its not the one you re talking about. Theres also the Fish Tank on Rt.46 next to the Walmart. I found a small store on teaneck rd in teaneck. He s a wholesaler with just a small retail store, has a good selection, although its kinda small. Prices were about 5...
I second that 7.00 walmart fan. Its about 4 inch diameter, and keeps my 24 nanocube at 80 consistently. I also took the feeding door off, and it blows over that. ALso is on the same timer as the lights.
I removed the feeder door on my nano completely, and makes it much easier to have steady temps. Water hasnt gone over 80, but when it does get close, Ill turn on my 7$ wally world fan. It blows over the open door, helps alot.
I think, think, think that there was a few by me at Reef Encounter. Im probably going over there tomorrow to look around, if interested PM to remind me.
What type of lighting? In my 24 nano, I was able to use the other bulb when one went out. (36w x 2) Check connections inside the ballast box...Is it plugged in? haha jk
Yeah, just for cheato light. I dont think watts matter as much when dealing with sumps, more color spectrum. I think the algae grows best under a 6500k bulb, more red. But I could be mistaken.
To be honest alot of the stuff on the nanotuners can easily be done yourself. The leds are only on a 12v lead, so all you need to do is wire in a new power supply, and remove the power and ground from the original power wires. Fans are easy too, go to a computer parts store and get 60x15mm fans...
Yeah they are, probably twice as loud as those Silenx ones. Although the do move a ton of air, I think its like 26cfm each. Im planning on modding a spare hood I bought, I also drilled some holes in the feeding door and attached a spare fan there, running off of a separate power supply. Well see...
Been pretty good lately, temps held steady at 76-78. Today, it was warmer out, like 85-87, and the tank never got hotter than 80. The hood is much cooler, only warm at the ends of the bulbs, right near the vents. Usuaally a decent amount of warm air coming out of the old intakes. 1 thing Im...
I had a small powerhead in there as well, older Hagen 301. I gave it to my friend, his tank had horrible flow, so hoping that helps his situation. So far things havent been too bad. I have all live rock, and some small floss right at the outlet behind the skimmer. Looking for pump upgrades once...
