Actually, forgot to add, nice pics as always!
---what I meant was, there is an option in the camera itself to do a white balance correction using something white (like a white PVC pipe) you place in the tank while the actinics are on. It allows you to take pics better; I was wondering if you...
Weird thing about the following corals below is the faster lightening of the ones that remained closer to the light source. The first coral in the next pic, or Coral #5 (on the top) USED to be halfway down the tank directly under the 6500K halide. It used to be much paler in color, but browned...
Oct 14 (Day 8) 1.3 mL
Dosed 3 tsp of turbo calcium. Continued kalk drip, refreshed the Mrs Wages pickling lime sitting in the Kent 5 gallon drip thing. 2 capfuls of Strontium/Molybdenum in the kalkdrip since the directions indicated "can be dosed with Kalkwasser" Food- added a whole leaf of...
Here are some updated pics I just took. More notes later when I get back, I gotta go finish hanging a 46 inch TV on the wall!
Oh yeah, later on, more comparisons between the 7th and the 20th
Tank is coming along nicely, I've plateau'd my dosage at 1.3 mL for now, will be cutting down a little this coming monday. I've been sick this past week and still working, flu season sucks! Pics on Monday night or Tuesday morning, keep posted!
that's gonna get hot buddy! HQI 2 inches above the tank, I assume it's sitting smack on the glass canopy right? That's not good especially since there isn't much water circulation between the water surface and the glass canopy to begin with. I'd move the filter if possible and get that baby...
sorry to hear that jonathan-
it was probably something other than bleach since if i'm not mistaken, salt mixes have a natural dechlorinator in them; not effective though if there was a lot of bleach that seeped in.
sorry for the loss~
Well, so far just about a week has passed so I decided to take pics earlier and do some comparisons, i wasn't looking for anything spectacular, but photo documentation can be cool because with the same settings, a camera can't really lie. It's been a week and the skimmer has definitely benefited...

In case no one read the beginning part of this thread which was solely for my personal documentation processes and for more real life information (positive and/or negative) to this reefing community, I would have to say again and point out:
Now here's a forewarning: Please do not try this...
This is why I am offering my tank as a guinea pig experiment in a plain and simple Carbon source dosing. It would really bother me if I were to stop now since I am noticing some positive effects in these initial stages. My skimmer has been skimming much more efficiently. As a matter of fact...
