Anyone ever try to build their own glass tank? I'm thinking of doing a 30x30x24. I see that Glasscages has this size rimless, there's also no bottom frame. Is this held together with just silicone? If so, it should be pretty easy. I can have 1/2" glass cut to size: 30x30 for the base, 24x30 for...
I'm looking for a 30x30x30 or 30x30x24 RR tank. With AFY bankrupt and all the negative things I've heard about glasscages, where would I get something in these dimensions? I prefer glass, not crazy about acrylic.
I thought about it and decided to get a good all around lense instead of a macro. This is the one I chose and a couple quick pics with it. I'll play around with it more this weekend...
I'm looking for a macro lense for my Nikon D70. How are the sigma lenses like this one - http://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/lenses_all_details.asp?id=3346&navigator=3. Or this http://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/lenses_all_details.asp?id=3283&navigator=5. Or should I just go with the Nikon 105mm?
My two occelaris clowns that I have had for a little over a year are no longer getting along. I got them as my first two fish before doing any research on anything really. They were about 3 - 3.5 inches long when I got them and they are still about the same size. They have not done any shimmy or...
I have been thinking about yet another upgrade. This time I would like to do a real nice light set up. When I started a little over a year ago all I wanted was a couple clowns and an anemone in my "29g" tank. What happened???
Ok, I would like to do 3 - 250w MH bulbs in Lumenarc reflectors...
The RBTA I got from Fisheye 10 days ago has split already. I got home from work to find 2 little rbtas along side my 12" rbta and the 10" gbta I got from Phyl. At this rate I'm gonna need a couple more tanks. Wonder if the wife will go for that? ::)
Is it best to calibrate with distilled water as the instructions state or to use something like pinpoint calibration fluid? With the distilled water you are calibrating at 0ppt. With the pinpoint solution you are calibrating at 35ppt, wich is the same number I want in my tank. I was just curious...
Is there a simple way to have my rodi unit come on and run automatically for like 3 hours every few days? I don't want to leave it on constantly because everytime the water drops an eighth of an inch in my topoff conainer it runs for like 10 seconds, I know that's not good.I've been running it...
I see this is a common problem, low ph that is. I've read all the threads and articles I could find but, I still have a ph of 7.8. It has actually been dropping to 7.65 at night. I recalibrated my reefkeeper and double checked it and it is correct.
My calcium is at 350, mag at 1300, dkh at 10...
I have been upgrading my system piece by piece and now I'm considering a high end skimmer. If money didn't matter what would everyone choose?
Yes, money does matter but, I'm already dead if she ever finds out the real costs and a little more won't hurt, right?
I have about 1.5" of sand in my tank for the last 4 monts. I would like to add another 1.5 to 2". Can I do it all at once or do I have to do it a little at a time?
I am planning a little upgrade to my power heads. I can't decide between the Tunze 6101 kit (2 powerheads and multicontroller) or the Vortec kit (2 powerheads, 2 drivers, controller and 1 battery back up). They are both about the same price, just not sure which is better. Any opinions?
I picked up a 180 RR AGA from another member here. Got it all cleaned up and started filling it yesterday. My list of equipment so far:
acrylic 65g long from glasscages for sump refugium.
ASM G4-X, 2 - Korlia 3's, 2 - Korlia 4's, 2 - mag 9.5's for returns, reefkeeper 2 controller, 500w heater...
