So far I have tried
--Chasing the fish around the tank (almost worked a couple times)
--Disassembing the rockwork (fish goes and hides elsewhere)
--Box trap baited with a live brain coral (fish is apparently no dummy)
It's occurred to me that the very size of my tank makes this difficult...
I added a fish to my reef and (surprise!) it likes to eat coral. It's a kind of brown heniochus. I thought it would have the same nice temperament as the regular balck white and yellow heniochus. Nope.
Anybody have any great advice on fish removal? ??? ??? ???
All my new frags are doing great. Even the designer acros are showing new axial coralites!
Been home sick so I had fun working on the tank with a head full of medicine and 100F fever. WooHoo! Oh wait, I think after what happened to WaMu, you can't say woo hoo anymore.
I finally set up my MRC Ca...
Yeah Lew Rothman, who is Mr. JR Tobacco, used to sell some bad cheap cigars in his catalog, which he recommended you keep on hand to give to the habitual cigar moochers (Hey, got another one of those?)
I've tried a lot of cigars, including Cubans, and eventually had to admit I like a mild cigar. I tend to stick with various Macanudos, Dunhills, or Royal Jamaicas for my humidor.
I used to get the La Gloria Cubana cigars at the factory, when the factory was in Little Havana in Miami. They were...
I ALSO bought a used Oceanic 58g, with the Oceanic Wetdry and Skimmer. It was great! Those Oceanic tanks are heavy duty, built to last a lifetime.
I turned the wet dry into a sump and used the setup for about 5 yeard, it's sitting out on my deck right now. Probably make a frag tank out of it.
Here's a couple pics of my calfo-style overflow. The tank builder said it's important to make the overflow big enough to allow you to install the bulkheads and elbows etc.
Not happy with the latest batch of photos, so I'm only gonna post the good ones and take some more today. Don't know why they came out blurry, I ought to build a top-down photo box. All of these things look better from above.

I'm setting up a quick-and dirty while I get the reactors set up. I'm going to use my old peristaltic pump to dose an amount of kalk somewhat less than the topoff, and let the ATO gadget take up the slack.
I was thinking about both and chose the AC-3 because there are more people in the club and elsewhere who have them. Those people can help you set stuff up and solve problems. I have never owned the RK but I like the AC-3 just fine.
Update time.
I added a kole tang and between him and the cleanup crew there's very little algae left :).
I added a rabbitfish and he died after getting stuck to the Vortech.
At MACNA I won a frag of the famous ORA Pearlberry acro, and that's in there. Plus, I picked up a second Vortech at MACNA...
On my first SPS tank I used the very reasonable 6500K Iwasaki. The light is a bit yellow but you get used to it, ie it looks normal to you after a while. That bulb has better PAR value than almost anything, and it's quite inexpensive.
I think there is some hooey among bulb brands, but the specs...
Dan I saw that "Our Coral Islands" and I think it is the most fantastic reef video (in HD, no less!) I have ever seen. Some of the shots had me glassy-eyed, I think I was drooling.
There is one shot where there are acros growing right among the mangrove roots and they kind of pan upwards out...
