Consumer Reports gave the Nikon Coolpix S9100 their "Recommended Best Buy" rating, in the super zoom category.
And the CanonPowerShot SX130 IS in the compact category.
I think most damn sels are a PITA. You could try putting the one in the sump by itself for a while, giving the others a chance to become familiar with their new surroundings.
You're still going to have to heat the water one way or another, so, unless you have to run a chiller, I don't know if replacing your submersible pumps will help the evaporation process. You could cover the tank to help with the evaporation, as long as that doesn't create other issues, i.e. gas...

I would have bought it the first time I saw it, a real quality piece of equipment, and....it looks like its brand new. It just won't fit into my cabinet.
I just re tested these two kits yesterday. The first test was done on 11/21/2011.
Salifert, Ca, Mg and Alk kits total: $61.20
# of tests/cost
Ca = 50 @ $ 23.40/kit $.48 ea./per test
Mg = 50 @ $ 24.30/kit $.49 ea./per test
Alk = 100 @ $13.50/kit $.14 ea./per test

I don't think you should have a "break in" period at this point, since it's pre owned. If you haven't added anything to the tank, i.e. red slime remover, it should be just a matter of getting the unit in the right depth of water, and adjusting the gate valve so you have the right level inside...
