Wishing everyone a Happy, Healthy and a Prosperous ( reefing wise, at least ) New Year- I got a new 75g tank- and out with the old- a 30L and a 29 cube for me-sell or trade
I'm one for giving someone around a holiday a little leeway- maybe on vacation- no phone access or just dealing with family/ situation, thinking that "I'll take care of this tomorrow/Monday"- hopefully I'm right- unless he's the same guy that bought the yellow tangs:mad:
Moving the tank up the stairs was a real chore- thought I could just pull it up using a hand truck, well, that didn't work- ended up pushing it up the stairs. It's now on the stand. I still have to install the shelf to hang the lights from- may or may not keep the top- if I do it will be chopped...
Moving a 75g up a flight of stairs tomorrow, the stand and filters are finally done- have been making water for a week- I have the Buddy and a well that only puts out about 40-45lbs of pressure- I hate to waste anything- so the 4 gal of waste for every gal of R/O goes to laundry and watering...
No offense, but I've been a 'beginner' for 2 years- can't keep sps or any corals for established tanks alive yet- I keep to the easy ones for now- good luck- hope you don't get disappointed/ frustrated again
I have a soft ball size gsp (thanks to @Salted that I plan to frag and glue to the wall on my 75g. I'm wondering if I should take a knife and slice it up beforehand leaving it on the rock- or just do it when I'm going to glue it
I'm getting ready to switch fish, rock, coral to the new 75g- the ph in my tank is 7.8 or so, my R/O water is neutral 7.0. Should I do something to increase the ph in the new water or should I just drip acclimate the fish, and keep the coral in another tanks until the ph raises naturally
I got 'time' to work on my 75- getting closer to reality- making as much water as I can- was going to supplement with distilled, but there seems to be a supply chain problem- none in my local markets
Googled Salgado- I could never make the trip- my responsibilities at home only allow me a couple hours a day away- has to be morning or early afternoon- will have to rely on local lfs and the generosity of fellow reefers
Worked on the filtration and stand this week- added some shelves and a divider in the center chamber. got the bracing for the stand done- used the design a fellow reefer posted with a few tweaks- most of it is screwed together so It's somewhat modular
Going to silicone the filters in tomorrow...
