    Starting Bio-Pellets

    Mine seems to be both.

    Is this a good deal?

Silicone grease, sometimes called lubricant. Most hardware stores carry it, i.e. Lowes, HD, Ace, etc.

    Starting Bio-Pellets

Here's a good read. :encouragement: What are the Benefits of using Bio-Pellets? NO3 and PO4 removal No need to maintain a specific dosage or increase over time No cyano or bacterial side effects No risk of Overdosing Simple to use…Set it and forget it. Increases protein skimmer output...

    Starting Bio-Pellets

It's been just over a week since I re purposed my GFO reactor into a bio-pellet reactor. I used the bio-pellet insert from BRS and the PHA pellets they recommended, and put a MJ1200 pump on it. The pellets have a relatively slow steady tumble. My water parameters were good to start with, and...

    Is this a good deal?

Both of my overflows stand pipes are just dry fit into the bulk head fitting, and I don't know just how water tight they are, I wouldn't doubt that I have a little seepage there too. If the worst were to happen and my return pumps stopped working for some reason, and I did have this seepage, the...

    Is this a good deal?

If your bh fitting isn't damaged in some way, i.e. cracked, and the "leak" is just in the slip fitting between the bh fitting and the stand pipe, then the rubber washer isn't going to do anything for that. The rubber gasket is just to keep water from leaking around the bh fitting and the glass...

    Is this a good deal?

So, the leak is not around the BH fitting itself? Where it goes through the glass hole?

Chill or Not Chill that is the question

    I questioned that in reply #3, so I don't think that's a issue.

    Automated water changes

I still do the siphon and hump the bucket exercise too. I did live in a place once where I used to use two of my Brute 32 gal. cans with dollies. An empty one for the waste water and one with the fresh SW, a couple of Aquaclear 70 PH's, and I was good to go.

Chill or Not Chill that is the question

I'm in agreement with using a Mag pump, but would replace the 12's with the 9.5's for both the heat issue and the potential for flooding. The fans are a good idea too, but I would control them through a reefkeeper or apex and have them come on only when the tank temp gets to a predetermined...

    Automated water changes

I did the same thing George, but with a 5 gal. bucket. I like your container better, it looks like it will take up less space in my cabinet and you can see the water level.

Trip to Austin, Texas (home of the LongHorns, and the Tunze repair site!)

Sounds just like the AC Expressway in the summer, or anyplace close to Philly anytime. I hate Philly drivers.

    Automated water changes

I'd do it in a heartbeat, if I had a basement, or even a crawlspace.

    Is this a good deal?

I would put the flat side against the bh fitting inside the tank, with the ribbed side against the glass(make sure the area is clean). Use some silicone grease on the washer, and don't over tighten it, usually hand tight and then another 1/4 turn with a bh wrench will do the job.
