Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
The guy who I was chatting w/ at ultimate reefs mentioned that the best way to get them out of the tank is to use an airline tube. Just suck them out of the main tank into the 10 breeder (or whatever you are using..) safely with the airline.
I can't answer your question either, but for what it is worth..
The GFO I picked up from our group buy (years ago) came to me wet.
The PhosoBan I bought from PA, or Petsmart, came in a 500ml container and it was dry. I'm pretty sure it is the same thing..
You may see him more than you think. Before I went bare bottom, mine used to eat out of my hand/come to my hand when it was feeding time or any food came to the tank.
I guess serpents are not bare bottom type inverts. The first day I went bare bottom he wedged himself under a rock, split...
As Nikki said, anything is possible, but I too have had a very large pistol (3-4") and a purple/red serpent without any issue. They used to fight for who is going to take down my turbo snails, so be careful.
I should mention that many disagreed with me that a serpent would eat a snail...
Yeah, I was surprised how quick he chowed down. There is still a bit left in the tank but it's about 75% gone now. This morning he was GONE completely and I thought he jumped out of the tank... then I stirred some sand around and saw his back.
He dug ALL THE WAY to the bottom of my sand...
So, did anyone tape John's seminar for the groups archive? :D I could not go, but I was definitely interested in what he had to say - expecially what he had to say about QT'ing.
Posting some before and after shots. I did not take a real before shot, but the middle rock is the one is it chomping on in the video. It was pretty much full of HA. When I woke up at 7 it was sleeping already and a HUGE pile of poo was in the wake of it's binge. I turned off the power heads...
I useds to add a lot of grass shrimp/ghost shrimp when the local pet store sold them. I had some that lasted about a year before they died... they usually got sucked into the overflow and died in the sponge.
But, since I had a bad case of ICH I am really reluctant to add anything to my tank...
I picked up a hare tonight from Greg and while it is a bit small.. it's a GREAT HA eater! I guess it was really hungry because it went right to work chomping away and I can see a noticable difference. I did not have the camera with me, but it stood up and literally sucked a huge tree of HA off...
I keep something like this in the house for emergencies. I used it 3-4 times last year for 24+ hours and everything survived, but I only had a 47G tank with maybe 37-40G of water volume...
Test kits... I guess it did not help that TROP uses the same brand I use!
I plan on bringing some water to Greg when I pick up the inverts from r2r. He said he tests water for $10, but again no idea what he is using. TROP's test kit setup was a joke.. I expected real meters. They used...
I would be interested, but all of my phos tests come back 0ppm at all times - using tank water. I had TROP check it also to make sure and they too came back with 0PPM in PO4 and NO4. So, its either leeching from the rocks or being consumed instantly by the softies and HA.
This was before...
I just did the same thing.. threw it in the tank about 2 weeks ago and nothing has changed. I think as long as it was kept moist/wet then it should be OK.
I'm tailing along due to my HA outbreak for about 2 years now..
I never thought of testing the NEW salt water as a potential culprit and I just started moving over the reef crystals from a really expensive pharmaytical brand I picked up years ago in bulk (trop something). Anyway, since my...
For what it's worth .. your scenario sounds exactly like how mine was about a year ago. He ate for a day or two and then moved around for a few days/week, then finally stuck to a single point all the time after a bit of wandering and he was dead. Since he always stuck in the same spot I...
Thanks for the reply! Yeah, that makes total sense, I just never knew that you could actually see the attack in action - so to speak.
I can sort of deal with the chemical warfare with carbon, I think(?), as long as they are not touching. But, what about them gobbling up inverts - is there...
So, as I ramp up on the move to the 15g tank I noticed, yesterday, that one of the hairy mushrooms appears to be emitting some type of chemical(?) into the water column. Is that what I am seeing? I'm guessing that it is trying to take out my frogspawn and BTA?
I tried taking a movie yesterday...
Hi Russ,
I saw your name as a MAAST sponsor and one of their users had this same question. I somehow messed up my AWI Typhoon III RO/DI system and it is no longer producing water properly. When I setup / added in the Aquatec ERP-1000 permeate pump I think I tinkered with the cables and now...
