I would love to pick up a zebra, but he would destroy any idea of keeping a DSB since they dig massive tunnels to live in.. plus I think they are spear'ers. I'm definitely axious to get the group buy into effect so I have an excuse to make a trip to check it out!
Did you happen to see what type? I'm adding a 1/2 acrylic DSB to my 15G and i've been considering adding one in.. If you did not see the type did you notice if it was a smasher or spearer?
I read this front to back yesterday. Good read - http://www.3reef.com/forums/warner-marine/official-ecobak-thread-103809-5.html
It seems like it can take 4-8 weeks before the pellets mature enough to take over the load.
When I was reading up on DSB/RDSB and LR requirements there was a heated...
If someone wants a cheap, and really good, pair of gloves these are my recommendation: http://www.amazon.com/Atlas-Glove-WG772L-26-Inch-Nitrile/dp/B001PBEIZQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1332948185&sr=8-3
I picked them up over a year ago and no rips or leaks and they go all the way up your arm...
Pretty cool! I spent many of nights scouting out this suckers because everyone was telling me they were fireworms. My weapons of choice were a red flashlight, tweezers and persistence :)
Even after getting nine HUGE ones, over 8" extended, I just saw one climbing around the other night...
If you don't mind me asking, why did you think that? Is it just for your volume or in general?
So, my understanding is that pellets are frowned upon by some because they cost more/they probably have a lot of carbon/gfo lying around, but it seems like pellets last longer than both of those...
Is there a reason why you haven't considered a cheaper solution for the volume you have? I have not researched it much at all, but for the BRS GB I was going to pick up the dual-reactor they have (80 with MJ1200). I spoke with BRS today and they said their GFO/Carbon reactors will take pellets...
Sorry guys, but I could not figure out how to edit the previous thread. I guess i've kinda of sold myself on the upstream approach, it just seems simplier that dealing with the stupid utube overflow or trusting 2 pumps to work properly w/o flooding.
Considering that the main tank is 15G..
1...
Sorry to hear about your battles. I have luckly never seen MV, but I was hit by ICH really bad and know the pain it causes.
Personally, I went fish free for 12 weeks (to be safe) and moved the fish to a QT tank that I dozed with Malaria meds that I picked up from Dr. Jim as well as doing a...
So, after about 2-3 years of struggling with my 46G DT I am breaking it down. I'm not able to keep the algae at bay and now it's completely overrun by dinoflagonates (spelling?) or something like it. Anyway, it's primary on the glass and some rocks, but even the nuisance macro is out of...
+1 what ThatGuy said. The only comment I can make, that probably goes without saying, is that flow flow flow..
I had almost no algae in the 15g tank with some rubble LR + HOB for about 1.5 years. Then my small powerhead died and caused a mess in the tank. I neglected to replace it and let...
Thanks for setting up a thread on the LED setups! I'm looking at setting up a small DIY LED for the 15g nano and there is just a lot of info out there.
Anyway, I wanted to see what you guys thought about this heatsink/fan/etc setup? I chose to support these guys since it seemed like a pretty...
My tank is in bad need of some clean-up crews and I'm right in middletown. Both tanks look like dino-city. I'm not going to take them for free, so if they are still available let me at least pay you for them. :)
Let me know! Thanks!
I lost two Hippo's to ICH and I gave up. The second one took out my entire tank minus one fish that survived DR Jim's remedy of CHLOROQUINE PHOSPHATE 250 MG TABLETS - http://www.njreefers.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=13683.0 If I had to do it again I would go with a QT...
1. freshwater dip (without PH checking..), but after normal shot acclimating for at least an hour
2. I never test parameters .. even after I lost a sea hare that was MIA for a week. I just do massive WCs
3. Only check salinity on newly made water also
4. I dump cold RO/DI topoff water into my...
Where are you located Dave? Anywhere near middletown?
I picked up some flatworm exit from Trop a few months ago and it's more than I need. I think I used 5 drops out of an entire container.. I underrated it and it still worked very well. I also did not run carbon as suggested by the mgr, but...
A lot of articles and forum postings I have read all point to mixing each and every time you mix salt. If you have a bucket they recommend rolling it on the ground for about 5 minutes when you first buy it. Although, with only minimal room to mix around I'm not sure how well this theory pans...
Thank you for your advice guys. Also, thank you again for those that offered RO/DI water. I held off on responding on christmas since I was unsure if people received emails on each response.
I did do a 33% WC, but it looks like I still lost a lot. I also ran a huge 12x6" bag full of carbon...
