I'm probably in Mike's category of registered forums. Between IT (Microsoft, Cisco, MCSE's, Security, etc etc), RC, DIY, Parrot related (Eclectus and general), Cars, Gaming, Programming, and between 15-20 aquarium forums.
But, to get to your question... it is IMPOSSIBLE to stay up with it...
Thanks guys! So, indirect sunlight/lighted room, with the T5's off, is still considered a lights-out period?
It would be great to have the lights on from 3PM till 11PM, but I figured this would cause problems since the room has natural sunlight after 6AM or so.
I'm guessing that I would need...
Hey Guys,
This may sound like a silly question, but I have to know if I am somehow doing something incorrectly.
The other day I was over a buddy's house well a house he's watching over in Cults Neck (mere $2.4m). The house was insane and it had an in wall tank that I think was about 120g. The...
Great design and Thanks for posting such a detailed desc!
Any idea if this could be scaled down successfully to a 2 or 2 1/2 model? I'm guessing that a 2" dia model would be a simpler solution - just cut everything in 1/2 ?
Any flow issues? I think most reactors are about 2-2 1/2" dia - right...
Pretty cool. He's probably thrive in my tank. I can't keep the phyto or algae at bay. Water is crystal clear but I need to scrape the glass 2x's a day and each time a cloud of green (and baby pods) float off into the distance. lol
So, what do they sell for? Are they like sponges in that you...
where's the squirt?? Is it the xenia looking thing? :)
Btw, are you concerned about the coralife timers catching fire or the standard analog/digital timers catching? I know that the coralife ones are prone to melt/blaze/burn but I've never seen a thread about normal timers going.
I have plenty of (good?) bristle worms in my tank and my clowns accidental chomp on one from time to time. It never seemed to hurt them for more than a few minutes. I often find bristles climbing up the glass walls and then they get sucked in powerheads and off they go. It's fun watching them...
I could be wrong, but I think once your scent is on the baby the mother refuses to care for it again. At least that's what I was always told as a kid - maybe to keep me from grabbing birds from their nests and bringing them home. ;)
Then again... that didn't stop me from digging up the termite...
SPCA will take it if you are unable to care for it yourself.
We just dropped off a sparrow or robin fledgling on tuesday that had a broken leg and was abandoned by the mother.
I heard that they do more spreading of bubble algae than anything else. The only thing I've ever seen my emerald eat is coraline and grape caulpra (decimated it).
It looks like one of the writers over @ http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2009-04/newbie/index.php suggested that hermits will wipe out your pod and brittleworm populations as well. Anyone ever experience something like this?
If you guys are going to be out and about you might want to try the water bottle trap (mantisshrimp.c.uk article). It shouldn't take you but a few minutes to make and worst case it doesn't work.
How large is the flame angel - I'm guessing at least 2 1/2" right? Unless the mantis is a spearer...
Hey mnat,
I would be interested in taking the little guy. Mine just died about a month ago during a bad molt. :(
Ok, so on to the problem at hand. As you said, they are pretty quick so catching it outside of the LR is probably not going to work with a net.
1. Soda water supposedly only works...
My wife came to me last night extremely happy.. thinking that our cleaner shrimp somehow survived the serpent star's stomach.
Guess what? She finally saw the pepperment shrimp that I bought in the invert group buy. She looks at the tank almost every night / day and this was the first time she...
