I don't foresee the chaeto clogging it but the fuge light may cause some nuisance algae on the reefmat. Perhaps moving it closer to the wall and somehow blocking the light from directly hitting the reefmat might help.

I have a roller mat but to be honest the roll ran out and I haven't changed it because my nutrients keep bottoming out.

I used reef flux last year when I was battling GHA for months and couldn’t beat it with manual removal and large water changes. I combined reef flux with adding a ATS to the system and I was algae free within a few weeks. I feel your pain but don’t give up. Good luck!

We get rid of them by the truckload at work. Most of them have raw chemicals that may be hard to clean but we have many with just solvents that were used. Yes my sailfin tang. He bullied 2 yellow tangs to death last year and this year I tried an orange shoulder tang and PBT a few months ago and he bullied them as well. Any other fish I add is fine just not tangs.

I’ve had tremendous success with peppermint shrimp if you want to try an easier route.

My phosphates were .12 at the highest but I know the algae was sucking much of it also. My acan closed up a little and I lost one sps but other than that everything seemed not bothered.

I recently started seeing my hair algae subside and i made the following 3 changes 1) added a ATS although it hasn't produced much algae 2) replenished my CUC and 3) i dosed tropic marin elimi-phos for 2 weeks to lower phosphates. I think 2 and 3 have been the biggest contributing factor.
