I can't agree more! That was one of the first things I thought of when I woke up and saw about 1/2 the tank emptied. It is going to look stupid, but I guess I'm going to put a metal/plastic bucket under the tank and bookcase it sits on to mitigate it in the future and get a water...
When I first started the hobby I saw a lot of folks suggested going out and getting a rubbermaid brutus (32g I think) and using that to store water. It doesn't really matter what container you use, but having a dedicated container helps with estimating how much salt mix you need.
I still use...
OK.. so now I am baffled..
When I saw the bottom floor ceiling with water stains, this morning, I drained the tank 1/2 and carried it into the garage. Then I filled it up with 5gal new water and threw in a 150w heater in it to see if it leaked again.
As of right now... there virtually no water...
Nope. It is a very basic tank - heck there isn't even a heater just a HOB pump that I suspect could be the problem but there isn't an ounce of water near the top of the tank. It looks like the bottom seal may have broken somehow but I REALLY gobbed a lot of silicone on the bottom so I can't see...
Hey guys,
I woke up this morning to my little tank and I stepped in a wet carpet and noticed that the 10gal nano had lost about 3-4gal's of water. Obviously the stand is Not as level as I thought since the water only spilled over one side .. or the leak is on that side. I picked up the 10gal...
I'm guessing that they have a lot of water made already? It might be great for those days that 30+ gals are necessary and you don't want to wait... :-)
All I see is a logo of Reef Central ... saying "Reef Central and ReefKeeping Magaizine don't support imagine hot-linking" Please visit our sites to view our content. www.reefccentral.com / www.reefkeeping.com"

Hi Bryan,
Could you send the program to me as well - office 2007 format is fine.. I emailed Chris, in RC, about his Access diary and he responded back but w/o the file.
Thanks!
I'm throwing this out of left-field... but any chance an ARC-FAULT circuit placed in our breaker box would detect this type of activity? That way, we have our GFCI protecting the socket and the AFCI protecting the entire circuit?
I know that AFCI's are a PIA because of the grounding issue (most...
Since this thread was moved over to Equipment convo I wanted to add this in... I can float around a little (mentally) so take this what it is... but i posted this on another forum and it's some "food for thought" for those whom are on the edge if they should move over from power compacts to...
The only way I was able to combat my cyano (red) problem was massive (50%) water changes a week and reduced lighting cycles. I did add PhosoBan as well, but I'm not really confident that this did anything. I also pointed one of my powerheads towards to surface to create some water disruption...
Thanks! I ended up going with this:
2 - ATI 39W 12000K Aquablue Special T5 HO Fluorescent
1 - T5 Giesemann POWERCHROME Pure Actinic 420nm 39watt
1 - ATI 39W Blue Plus T5 HO Fluorescent
and I picked up a UV 10k just incase the setup is too blue.
I agree that it would be easier with 6 bulbs...
I'm wondering if anyone can look at my combination of T5 lights and advise me.. I want a configuration that doesn't look (too) yellow and looks similar to my current Coralife Power Compact lights. My current configuration is 1x96w 10K and 1x96w 50/50.
I already put an order in, PA group buy...
I'm not sure how handy you are... but I would personally put my hand at making it myself if it's that price. I was looking at a smaller acrylic tank for someone and I noticed they were indeed expensive. Unfortunately, acrylic (Plexiglas's) is not very cheap in larger sizes, but I'm sure you can...
That's what I was afraid of. The 10g tank is really new though (5 days old). I'm not really convinced that the sand was live sand since there was no water in it... I took the rubble rock out of my converted wet/dry sump/refum and put it into the tank. There are pods, ants, etc in the water...
