I was thinking about doing one of the red LEDs also. Never got around to it since my macro started dying which I attribute to the pellets kicking in. I have seen the red LEDs popping up on eBay also for a 1/4 of the price of the reef breeders ones on R2R.

I've added both of the ones I named to existing setup on more then a few occasions with no ill effects.

If I remember correctly it was the type of sand you chose, not the fact that it was dry.

I agree definitely dry sand. No live. Hidden reef sells dry and live Fiji pink. Tropic Eden is also awesome stuff. It's only available through premium aquatics though

Welcome to the club. Tank looks good. I agree with mnat about the ATO. I run one from autotopoff.com and love it, and they are far less expensive then most on the market.

Live Aquaria has them occasionally. Basically you have to sign up to be notified and they will send an email when they come in. I just recently got an email maybe two weeks ago. You can check but I'd bet they are out now.
