Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
The other consideration is that our test kits only measure inorganic phosphate (phosphorus, orthophosphate). They do not measure organic phosphate compounds, which there are many. So you simply might not be "seeing" that phosphate in your tank......but the algae sure does!
Are you...
Mark and Mark (@MadReefer and @Mark... ) whenever you're ready, let me know. It will be first come, first served. Let me know what works for you to stop in.
James, with the number of these that I have, by the time you're back in the game, I'm sure I'll still have some left. And...
For some reason I have a few frags of Neon Green Candy Cane frags (Caulastrea curvata). I typically give frags away, but because I cut, glued and mounted these guys on plugs, it's going to cost you. I'm making it simply, $1/head. I have a bunch of 1, 2 and 3 heads, and...
Looking unbelievable Art. It just amazes me that one-an-done treatment of fluconazole wiped out your hypnosis after two weeks. To the best of my knowledge, you were the first club member to give this a go. I also know your experience with this wonder drug was shared (probably unbeknownst to...
First off, welcome to NJRC. Glade you found us.
Our meeting are informal gatherings of a bunch of reef-geeks. All are welcome, but highly suggested that you RSVP, out of courtesy to the host. It's nice that they have an idea of who is coming.
It's a great place for prearranged frag...
You simply want flow so you don't get stagnant water. The amount of flow isn't going to accelerate the rate of leaching. It's simply a matter of time, and performing water changes when nitrates and phosphates get high. I found a bunch of pumps you may borrow...some high flow, some low. You...
You don't want to put it through the DI under pressure. It's the pressure that's probably shutting it down. Others that have done this have gravity feed the DI resin....and yes, it's going to be slow. Raise the bubbled water up (I've seen were some have built a stand for the bubbled water...
I have a Koralia either K3 or K4.....more than enough flow. It might be too much flow. How big is the container you're curing in? I do have smaller pumps as well. I'm in Sayreville.
No tips or tricks....it just takes time for the old death to leach out. Only really need a little...
I use Instant Ocean and order from Drs. Fosters and Smith.....just ordered two boxes at $40/box....free shipping and delivered right to your front porch.
My recommendation is to have a local reefer friend test your water....or take a sample to your LFS. With that fish load, including a tang, and using Reef Roids, I'd expect to see N's and P's.
How old is the tank? What fish do you have? What do you feed....how much...how often? What test kit are you using for nitrate?
I'd also put the brick back in your sump......that's were the bacteria lives that converts ammonia to nitrate.
