Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Tom, as you're well aware, everything we do takes volunteers to run it. Sounds like something that you could spearhead with the conservation committee. Our current set of volunteers are already very busy with MACNA planning. Let me know if there is something you'd like to make happen!
Too much light! Tom saw a similar thing happen to one of his monti's. Calfo was saying that they didn't like very much light and that Ed would see better colors in one of his if he lowered it in the tank.
Chris, we feed ours every 2 weeks or so (when we start seeing them out in the open). They actually eat the entire starfish so there's nothing left behind when they're done. They're alive when we throw them in, but they don't last long. The shrimp are on them within minutes. They have an...
Just to clarify, higher numbered (over 50) are telephoto (bring things closer). Anything with a range (14-24, 24-70, 70-200) is a zoom lens. The lenses with just one mm number (60, 105, 300) are fixed focal length lenses.
I'll leave "What exactly does the mm mean" to someone else (way to technical for our discussions) and just say that the bigger the number the greater the magnification and the closer the things that are further away will appear.
Macro gives you two things... 1) the ability to get [relatively]...
I have the Nikkor 105. What that means is that I can make things about 6" away from the lens look like they are lifesize. So if I want something up against the front glass to be life size the camera body has to be 6" away from the glass. That also means that the stuff in the back of the tank is...
With that depth I would look to a 150mm Sigma lens for your Macro lens.
"2x telephoto lens" and "Wide angle lens" are very vague and I'm not sure what that's all about.
The 18-55 is good starter lens as it typically comes in the kit. Not the sharpest lens in the bag, but it will do for general...
March is the first month to host a central meeting in 2010 (January is typically North, Feb South). The end of 2009 gets a little haywire because of MACNA, but I think we should get back on schedule after that.
