    vivid colors in pics

Pure Actinic is tough to fight with white balance. If a photo is taken under ONLY actinic you usually know it. Some people's corals are REALLY that bright. Go see Stan's tank if you're anywhere in the area!

    vivid colors in pics

You should get out more! ;D While some (over)use photoshop most of them sharpen to excess but most people don't fool with Mother Nature when it comes to coral colors!

Please do not purchase Wild Caught Banggai CardinalFish

They're very territorial. 2 is ok (if they pair). 3+ not recommended.

Brian's 225g Monstrosity is Now 180 gallons of FUN!

Re: Brian's 225g Monstrosity! Well you certainly managed to make it look worse in pictures than it does even in PERSON! Sorry to see the tank looking like that, Bri. If you need a temporary home for your corals, we'd certainly hold them for you.

    Caulerpa Eaters?

Caulerpa feeds on the ammonia part of the cycle, so in order to irradicate it you'd have to prevent the creation of ammonia or introduce something else that consumes the ammonia that gets created faster than the caulerpa can. I've recently researched this very topic and came to the conclusion...

    Introducing Dead Live Rock

You should cycle it first, especially the big pieces or pieces with significant bio materials.

    Opinion on 2 items

They are typically just venturi style skimmers that are part of the filter, not a separate item/brand. I have a wet dry we ran on our 120 that I'd sell you for 100$. It comes with one of those venturi style skimmers. Truth be told though a simple 15g tank with baffles would be all you'd need.

LOL! I thought they were supposed to frag the corals for ME?! ;D

    air exchanger?

Did you try a DIY first? There was a thread a bit ago about these. I don't have heat or humity issues (that the dehumidifier can't handle) in our basement at this point, and certainly no heat issues, so I don't have any first hand BTDT experience for you.

    Maroon Clowns

They typically take 2 weeks, give or take a day depending on temperature, etc. They go down brigh orange and within 2 days they change to gray, if I remember correctly. So from gray you should see 10-12 days. My maroons were regular like clockwork when I had a nem... but I couldn't stand to...

    frag tank

The only thing with the stock tanks is that they are deep so there isn't the surface area for the volume you get. I like that tank, Greg. You did a great job on it. The 50g stock tank is a great size since it is short (the 100 is the same surface area but taller). I don't like the curves (hard...

    frag tank

That's a great idea, I never thought of painting the inside of it white. Tom, the dimensions aren't the best for growing things out. If you're going to have that amount of volume it should be surface area more so than depth.

I don't think the 200 is a very good alternative either. Too deep. The key is shallow. No more than 14". JMHO, of course.

    frag tank

Don't do it. I don't have the explanation in me tonight, but it isn't efficient, effective nor easy to view the stock. I'd suggest shallow troughs or shallow acrylic tank. JMHO.
