Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Not a million frags but there was significant carnage! ;D
I almost had the cap/millie formation out in one piece, but it split into four parts just as I was about to step away from the tank. I fought with it for close to an hour trying to get it back to the way it was in the 75. Later that...
OK Stan, I finally did it
Ready to start.
He's waiting for his new friends to arrive!
Here we go!
When the dust settles, the corals start opening and the tangs stop duelling I'll look for the tripod and the camera manual and try to get some good shots.
Now I need a drink...

Pictures don't do it justice. Maybe once I'm done moving tanks around I'll learn to take pictures.
The 75 will now become home for my softie collection currently in a 55.
Where did the LPS go? Look here
From a thread on RC:
Here is a link to the thread.
I have no personal experience with these kind of systems. And here is one of the reasons:
Too much work for me! ;D It's geared primarily to the SPS environment
I'm sure once you do some reading and have some specific questions the folks...
I use the water that I remove from my display tank when I do water changes. So I change once a week or once every other week.
3 weeks is probably the minimum. Depending on how much organics are in them it usually takes 4-6 weeks.
If you are anxious to get them in the tank as soon as possible...
Re: Here's my 120
I feel your pain Bax, hope it all works out.
I'm just waiting for a major failure as I finish my upgrade.
I've had a few minor floods and tripped breakers as I tweak things before the big transfer.
Hang in there! ;)
You have to be carful here. When they 'died' the organinc material on them at the time probably is still in the rock. Dead dry organics will still cause a spike.
Best to cycle them. All you need is a few rubbermaid totes or a brute trashcan, a power head and a heater. Oh yeah, and some patience. ;)
I can see it right in front of me! How's your tank doing Stan?
I'm working up some courage to make the final move. I've had four fish in it since the weekend after Thanksgiving.
I have some time off next week, so it may happen soon!
Some of my favorite highlights!
Yeah, but the poor wrasse is dead. ::)
::)
And a quote from Albert Einstein: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
Of course I could fill 3 pages of "My parameters are good" / "My test is off the charts"...
Re: Salinity way to high
I suggest you reread pgordemer's post and take the slower route, unless the livestock shows signs of stress.
If they do stress, I would still use saltwater at a lower sg (1.020-1.022)and increase the frequency of water changes to every other day until back to 1.026.
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
I'm old and the mind is going so question away! Anyway the iodine usage is to support the molting process of shrimp and crabs.
Leathers and xenia also benefit from iodine.
There is little hard research on this topic. In fact Randy...
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
I'm working on the same idea. I have 2 barrels, sump and sink all in close proximity. When the QT tank is not needed anymore I'll have a spare mag7. I was thinking about using a feed cycle on the ACJR to program the change. Of course that would...
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
Don't worry Bax, you're not alone on this one! (And I just posted in the 2-part thread about the importance of testing! ::))
I dose one drop of Lugols per tank per month. I don't wait to see a molt. As I understand it, a lack of iodine can...
