Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
You need to quantify that before you start dosing.
I would check CA,Alk and Mg daily for a few days before a water change, check again after a water change, and again for a few days before the next water change. This should give you an idea of your daily ca/alk consumption and if your...
If you dose something, you need to test for it.
Please give specifics on your parameters and a little history on the tank. How long established, filtration, lighting, flow, etc.
Do you have any pictures?
I can find a spot for it, but I can't believe that all of a sudden it's become a problem after 2 years.
Unfortunately my short Christmas break has been filled with wakes and funerals to attend. I should be able to stop by one night next week.
Premium Aquatics and Aquatic Obsessions. See it here.
The dimensions are misleading. If you order 1 you get a piece 12" x 48" if you order 2, you get 2 pieces that are each 12" x 24".
Just remember Barry, leeches have made a comeback with the medical profession. ;)
Don't dismiss something just because it is old, evaluate its pros and cons and see if it works for your situation.
I kept many saltwater critters alive in the 70's and 80's with crushed dolomite and undergravel...
So if I could have anything without it's adverse effects I would want:
1) Moorish Idol
2) Sohal Tang
3) Clown Trigger.
But alas they above fish either starve, kill other fish or are not reef friendly!
I think the question may be do you stay with the substrate you have.
You say gravel, is this a crushed coral coarse kind of substrate?
If yes and you want to stay with that, then keep the UGF going and be prepared to continue vacuuming the gravel and doing frequent water changes. The problem...
I'm using diamond netting on the back of the canopy the way Phyl described using eggcrate on my new tank.
So far, so good. I have two filamented fairy wrasses that have been rescued from the floor before.
Hey Jim, Yellow coris wrasses do jump and can find a fairly small gap in eggcrate when...
Before you get another anemone you need to consider two things:
1) There is always a chance they will move. I have an LTA for almost 10 years. It has stayed in one spot for as long as two years, but it always goes walk-a-bout when you least expect or desire it.
2)If you have a filter or...
Nah, go for 6 six foot VHO's and skip the halides like I did. 8)
Seriously, I'm with Phyl. If you like what you got, stick with it.
The actinics are for enhancing the color so 5' will be fine, but 6' should fit nicely.
I wouldn't think that it would affect the whole tank thatt dramatically. Especially since you run a well maintained tank and I think you've had that leather for a while, correct?
Are you running carbon? Phosban? Did you change brands / lots of either one lately??
Hey Jim,
Nothing I can add but words of encouragement.
Nice to know the system can maintain temperature. My sump is in the basement and its only a few degrees cooler than the Living Room where the tank is located. I've been able keep the tank running in a 3 degree range without a controller so...
Chemical warfare and too high flow come to mind.
Maybe I can stop by after the holidays and see if I can see anything.
Just to be complete what is the temp, ph and SG?
Maybe they miss having a sandbed. ;D
Sometimes nature selects mutations as being an improvement.
Not to diminish the need to avoid inbreeding, but I think natural selection will work here.
I think Picasso's are ugly.
I think Picasso's are WAY overpriced.
I think Picasso's are a fad fish being acquired by folks with WAY TOO MUCH...
Oh! Did I leave that out?
I thought the AO regulars might have some fun guessing. But they'll probably just call Will and ask him. ::)
I got a Gold Rim and a Tomini.
The pictures aren't of my actual TBD Tangs
Might be putting everyone else to sleep, but I'm having a good time. ;)
Sand is in. Half the rockwork is in and arranged. The rest will come from the 75 when I feel the new tank is ready for the transfer.
Lighting was finished Wednesday. By Thursday neighbors were reporting UFO sightings due...
I'm with Wendy, but I noted that there is a place to enter a discount code when you order.
Has any of the officers approached them about an NJRC discount?? :)
