Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I use my Aquacontroller Jr and an Aqualifter pump to dose. I'm currently running 1 minute on and 14 off throughout the day. I tweak the timing from time to time as the evaporation rate changes.
I have a lovely Autotopoff.com float switch to use as an upper limit to shutoff the Aqualifter if not...
I guess I need to post my standard answer, "What are you keeping?"
That would be way too much flow for my Euphyllia dominated LPS collection.
But the SPS crowd can never get enough. ;)
Thanks Mike!
I need to mold around the entrances into the dining room. I wanted to finish off the header and studs with 1" pine to give a nice edge for the casing molding. However the width of the walls are wider than 1" x 4" and less than 1" x 6", so I guess I have to rip 1" x 6"'s to size. I...
I have a 46 bowfront with stand, glass top and strip light available now. Not reef ready.
I'll have a 55 with black pine stand and canopy avaiable early December. The stand and canopy need to be painted. Also not reef ready.
I drip acclimate and then add lugols and flatworm exit at the end.
I tried Mucho Reefs method on other Euphyllias and they seemed to stress quite a bit, although they were OK after the treatment.
Counting down!
Painting - Done!
Entrance tile - Installer is coming 11/7
Carpeting - Installer is coming 11/12
Water on floor in tank: 11/14!
In the meantime I will wire the lights, cust some pond liner and work on silencing the overflows.
I can also do some molding work we were going to...
Re: Here's my 120
Sorry fot the losses Bax. I've given up on Anthias for now. I have some Filamented Flasher Wrasses in QT for the 180 and they are much more active than I expected.
Dwarf Angels do much better in QT with some established live rock to pick on. Of course that means that you have...
Gee, this list looks real familiar. :D
Potters are tough to acclimate and get eating. They prefer a well established reef environment. I don't think they'll do well in the group you have listed.
It's also a pretty heavy bioload. Based on my own personal tastes, I'd lose the pinktail trigger.
Looks good Jim!
Grammas are one of my favorites. I haven't seen mine in months so I guess he is no more. ::) The purple tang decided he wasn't allowed to eat.
I'm sure all the brown is just to set the mood for fall and spring will bring bright shinning colors all around. ;D
The increase in light can cause shrooms to melt.
Move them to the bottom of the tank and let them acclimate. You can put a few layers of plastic window screen or other plastic netting over the top of the tank. Remove one layer every other day until they adjust.
Sorry I didn't see this sooner...
I'm with JR on the skimmer. Fish only ususally equals a bigger bioload. A G3 seems to be a popular choice.
Figure your sump flow between 400-600 gallons.
Well, if you are truly interested in fish only; you can cut back on the lighting, flow, and you won't need a chiller.
Use your reefkeeper to shut down some lights if it gets too hot. You really should not need a chiller.
One vortech should be more than enough flow. What kind of return flow...
Great job, Merv.
I always love your pictures and commentary.
I'm starting my own project, I will be dosing myself with Vodka and posting pictures of my growth. ::)
Thanks guy's!
Thanks Merv for the pix.
Of course I have a little twist. I just have bulkheads, no overflow box. I'm trying to get away with plumbing mods only, no drilling or glueing.
I have some more time to play before I take it down for the carpet. The most radical plan being considered is...
