Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Sand would be better.
Use the filter. Some folks convert the Aquaclear filters to work like a refugium. I have a bed of rock rubble and a bag of carbon in mine. Some folks use other filter media like chemipure.
If budget allows add a skimmer. Once you get the feel for the hobby you'll want to...
Always helpful for any size, but never mandatory. But as Albie pointed out, smaller tanks require closer attention to maintenance. So if you rely on water changes, they have to stay on schedule.
Hey Obi,
Coarse, gravel like substrate will trap uneaten food and waste. The more waste that stays in the tank, the higher your nitrates will be.
I think you are going skimmerless and relying on weekly water changes for maintenance.
I would use a gravel vac type of siphon when you do water...
Da 180 is in da house! 8)
Thanks Mike M, Brian and John! It's great to have someone ready to help whenever you need it.
Thanks to Mongoose as well for a great deal.
No the hard work begins, cleaning up the basement. ::)
I need to wire an outlet as well.
Because it is not a serial connection. Each end of the bulb is a set of electrodes that produces a flow of electrons that excites the mercury vapor causing it to release photons. It is not a wire connected betwwen bulbs creating a circuit.
Thanks Guys!
We can meet at my place at 6:15. Joe's place is 10 minutes from the house.
Mike, don't buy all his frags while you are waiting for us to meet you! ;D
So tomorrow, 4/16 is the day.
We can meet at my place or Mongoose's place at 6:30.
It will be a simple move straight out of a garage and into my living room. Only 3 stairs involved.
I couldn't get the basement cleared out this weekend due to 2 funerals and the death of my car. The car has...
And Lady Macbeth clownfish and her new man are spending a lot of time dancing together.
She has hosted in a toadstool next to his LTA, but they meet frequently in between and wiggle their butts off! ;)
I can meet you at your place when you get home, assuming Jim agrees to let me adopt!
I'll be around home that day. I just have too many things to do duing the day to make it to the meeting.
Thanks!
I have a widowed 10 male ocellaris in a 55 with room for a female, a green rasta and 4 polyp brain if someone can pick them up at the meeting that will be coming close to Woodbridge on the way home.
Looks like the move will happen Wednesday.
I'm firming up the time and meeting place with Joe.
I'm going to skip the water test. (crosses fingers)
I'm pretty sure the tank will fit in the Durango, but I won't get everything in one trip.
Is anyone bringing a truck by any chance?
I might be...
You're good Brian I go 22 cups because I don't always get a full scoop and then as Phyl says, "I salt to taste!"
That reminds me, I need 2 buckets of salt for the upgrade. Oh the hidden costs, or more appropriately "the costs I have to hide from Cindy!"
Great news! Congratulations to everyone involved. ;)
The vision of a small group got the club here, now we need to pitch in and make it a large group that leads us to a HUGE success!
Wow, something positive to add to my daily prayer list. ;D
