    blange3's 180 upgrade

Thanks everyone! I'm getting anxious. :o This is going to trigger a lot of work, but worth it. The 75 lps moves to the 180. The 55 softies move to the 75. As I'm cycling the 180 I'll quarrentine a harem of anthias. When they move to the 180 then I'll QT some tangs. When the anthias are...

Moving Day, I hope! A week from tomorrow on Wednesday 4/16 about 6:30 pm. Can use some help geting the tank from Sayerville to Perth Amboy and after the water test, from Perth Amboy to Woodbridge. I may have the basement cleared by then and will need a few strong reefers to get it down the...

Alleleuia! Easter is the season of Resurrection, so.............. I'm resurrecting this thread! I just left a deposit with Mongoose. I'm getting a 180. ;D I'll need some help picking it up in the next week or so. Pickup will be a two step process. We have to get the tank where it's stored...

Diatom Filters ---> Vortex XL VS System 1

I have an XL. They take 3 and 1/2 cups of powder so if you are just doing occasional water polishing I'd go with the smaller model. They get real funky if you let it sit a few days between uses. You need to backflush and change powder between uses and unless you clean a lot of tanks at one...

    Midas Blenny with Ich

You're right on target Phil, Odin is the biggest problem. But the couch belonged to me and Brian first! Lately Odin has been afraid of me for some reason, so he usually gives up the couch when I head that way. ;)

    Since adding the Ka Reactor

Mike, I may be heading over there tonight before I go to another wedding rehersal. You are always welcome to stop by the house as well. I've been checking out some threads over on RC in the chemistry forum regarding test kits and salt. Billybeau1 has been a busy guy lately. I was surprised...

    Midas Blenny with Ich

Stuff happens, but I do think that you should give up sitting on the couch at AO for one month! ;D It's getting harder and harder for me to get my regular seat when I visit!

    Since adding the Ka Reactor

Salifert has been having issues with their Alk kits measuring high for some time now. Mike,I have a Lamotte kit handy if you want to compare tests. Also an older Salifert kit. I have a new Salifert kit that I'll be pitching as it measures high. Dnov99, I'm in Woodbridge if you want me to test...

    Carbon

Some brands of carbon can leach phosphates into the system. I use the carbon that the club gets for group buys and I love it. Several memebers have conducted phosphate tests on the stuff we get and have found it to be OK. It rinses easily as well. A group buy for carbon is coming up in May...

I checked Rod's website and Aquatic Obsessions is listed on their store locator. So who is using this stuff? Does it make a difference?

    Dipping Corals

If you make sure to match the ph and temp to the tank you are adding the corals too, it's not as stressful. I use to do it for all zoas and lps. Now I just do it for the zoas (sometimes) Also I found out the hard way that freshwater and leathers are not friends. :o My current process is to...

Is my open brain gunna make it?

Try feeding a little while after lights out. Selcon is something else you can try soaking the food in. Start with smaller chunks of food until it gets going.

    My 75g Already in Progress!

Thanks everyone! The tank was meant to be Euphylia dominated, but I always thought the bubble would come out on top and hold the center square. I really think it was the plate that did the most damage. After staying up against the glass for well over a year, it decided to go walkabout. The...

Aquatic Obsessions is how all LFS's should be

Yep, we came after you guys left. Although you were there in spirit. Genevieve treated me to a coral that I can't mention if I want to stay on the conservation committee. :-[

Ok ... Fess up! Who's running Zeovit?

I was just baiting you a bit Stan. 8) I have very little SPS. I run a 'dirty' LPS system. From my limited understanding I believe this is a method to achieve a very low nutrient system, correct?
