Poll Wave Pumps / Power Heads

Not sure why I'm so negative on Vortech, but if you got what you paid for, they would have replaced the magnets for free (since it was a flawed design) and the power supply wouldn't have failed. They should have a 1% failure rate, but they're closer to 25%.

    Who has solar????

Does the difference have to do with the amount of sun? 1300w average extra for a month seems high, but if you're running MH you could get there.

Poll Wave Pumps / Power Heads

And since I wouldn't be jpelzer if I didn't complain about Vortech: I've had a total of four of them, 1x MP40 and 3x MP10. I sold the MP40 because it was too loud, I'm using 2x MP10's in the frag tank (where the ability to turn them down is nice, and their noise isn't so annoying), and one had...

Poll Wave Pumps / Power Heads

Sicce Voyager HP4000's... Great pumps. Start correct direct direction, silent, affordable. I've had a pair cycling on and off every minute for 18 months, not a peep. And if one fails, I can have a new one delivered next day via Amazon Prime.

    jpelzer's 240 in-wall reef

Yeah, I have those on my current (an Avast Marine CS1 with recirc-mod), and love them! I remember seeing your skimmer and thinking it was MASSIVE... How big is this 8000 going to be?!

    jpelzer's 240 in-wall reef

So I'm upgrading my skimmer to a Reef Octopus XP-8000 external. A bit of overkill, but it's a skimmer that I shouldn't grow out of.

Oh no he didn't, oh yes he did 180 gal build

Decibels is a logarithmic scale, so rounding them up to make the math easy, 40db vs 70db, your generator is 8x louder than your fan. Still, you won't care about all that when you need it.

    Classklown's 40B SPS Paradise

Weren't you worried about pests, since you can't dip a colony with the crab in it? Or were you able to get them out first?

    WTB Reef Octopus XP-8000EXT Skimmer

Looking for a new or used Reef Octopus XP-8000EXT. Apparently these are back ordered for several weeks, so if any vendor has one taking up space... I'd also consider used if anyone is looking to upsize/downsize.

    PAR meter for hire?

It does need to be hooked up to the computer for par. It's also very sensitive to angles. Readings vary widely if you're not perfectly flat.
