Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Yup, that's right Paul. I was fixing my first post so folks could see the code they should fix. What a wonderful world it will be without those URL tags!
Seems like photobucket has become pretty popular with folks on this site! One thing, if you insert images using the default code, it makes your posts difficult to read for users on mobile phones because it leaves the forum and opens the image in a browser.
And the fix is simple! Here's an...
My old tank had a bunch, this tank has them in the sump, bit I think my various fish plus pistol shrimp keep them in check in the main tank. I added them to my system on purpose. If they can breed, they're consuming something that you don't want, IMO.
Can I just say, to all of you posting on photobucket these days... Wow that site sucks! Here's what your post looks like (after exiting the forum app on mobile)
But that's a pretty anem!
So the skimmer is great, but the heat it's adding to the tank is not. Right now my tank *wants* to be 76.5, and was maintaining that with the help of a 500w heater that only ran 3-4 times a day... So the tank was pretty balanced, energy-wise.
Adding the skimmer replaced the old, which had a...
They'll push that far.
I run kalk and haven't had the same issues you guys are describing. Only place I've seen buildup is on the pipe where it leaves the reactor and enters tank. It's a flexible hose, so I flex it and the crud falls off. Obviously I'm doing a reactor vs drip, but I wonder...
Hysteresis prevents rapid flapping on and off. Those values were probably pretty exaggerated, you might set them each to a minute or two. If your heater is small enough (wattage) to run on one if the solid state relays (1-3, 5-7 on an EB8), you can cycle that safely every few seconds... The...
Also, I don't actually run my heat this way, though I use defer on a bunch of my outlets. I have mine set to:
Fallback OFF
If Temp < RT+-0.2 Then ON
If Temp > RT+0.2 Then OFF
If Outlet MainPump = OFF Then OFF
You can set the degrees really tight, but then add hysteresis to prevent the rapid cycling on/off. On an apex is looks like this:
Defer 015:00 Then ON
Defer 005:00 Then OFF
That would set it so once the heat came on, it would be on for at LEAST 5 minutes, and once off it wouldn't turn back...
SRO XP-8000 is installed! Had to remove a 20G tank that had my heater, kalk reactor, and old skimmer. Also had to relocate a bunch of Apex control equipment. Wires are still in disarray, kalk reactor is in a temporary location, and my heater is offline. But my temp is hovering at 78 even without...
Oh wow, cool! Well, the ones in the pellets are going to have a hard time making it to the tank, as the output goes straight into my [massive] skimmer. Good luck, shrimp! Maybe some of the ones in the sump will make it to the DT. I wonder where they came from? Eggs in frozen mysis?
