Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Lance, for feeding them they should have a diet that includes nori (seaweed) as they do need their veggies. Ocean nutrition also makes a veggie based food (formula 2) that is good for them. They'll eat meaty foods as well but they also need veggies.
Glad they've helped to solve your hair algae...
You could buy an 18 impeller in the mean time. That would make the pump something on the order of a mag21... The impellers are usually relatively cheap...
Splash is a pretty typical reason for a MH burst. Could be caused by anything from a fish jumping out of the water to a powerhead kicking up the surface to shaking your hand after feeding the fish. Unless it was a fish/PH issue, the cause and effect is usually quite dramatic.
Red bugs = Yellow with a red spot.
Flat worms = pinkish to red to brown flat things. Sounds like that may be what you have, but that won't generally kill a coral. Do you have any other parameters out of wack?
It was raffled off and took up residence with Steve68.
Phil,
When they get too much light they tend to bleach and when too much flow is a problem they tend to look all sucked in (but still covering the skeletin).
I find that when they start losing ground on their skeletin like that it is...
Re: spaghetti worm
Added a Ca reactor? Nitrate reactor? Kalk reactor? Changed your sump? The angle of your fans? Do you powerheads look like they need to be cleaned? Did you test at the same time of day as you usually test? The frags add, were they large or small? How many gallons is your tank...
Those "small frags" were established frags/colonies that he's had for some time, according to his post.
Also, according to his post, the greatest change in these corals has happened over the last 3 weeks:
Not only do I not know his tank personally, but I also haven't posted in his thread for...
Most of those corals had been in his system for some time, only a few of them were recently purchased frags. The color changes and growth in his existing corals was quite interesting.
As for dosing what you can't measure, true... but I consider amino acids more like vitamins/DTs/food than...
Thanks for the input Steve. I wonder if there's a break point at which you go over the amount that your system can tolerate without excess algae growth...
Damages go far beyond the stolen items. Damages might be rock that was taken along with the shrooms, the destruction of the reef, the cost of repair/replacement, etc. I'm sure his damages go far beyond the value of the corals themselves that he's stolen.
Re: spaghetti worm
Have you changed salts recently? Changed the angles of your pumps? Covered the tank? Tried to reduce evaporation? Any of these things may have inadvertantly caused your PH drop due to excess CO2 in the water that can't escape.
You can probably send your back to Neptune in exchange (along with some money) for the Serial Port model. The serial port is part of the unit, not an add on, so it would have to be an exchange. Call them and see what they say.
