Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
a 120 is ideal for those who have 48" fixtures.
A 125/180 will require a longer 72" fixture.
All of them have the same height.
120/180's are 24 inches front to back.
The 125 is 6 inches shorter front to back.
Personally I'd choose a 120 over a 125 and a 180 over a 120.
With the lighting...
fyi try to squirt it outside the tank if you can. The anemone will turn white and never appear again.
I've never tried dosing chemicals directly in the tank. Even though it's a tiny amount (relative to the volume of water) - you just never know (even if they say it's reef safe).
is this the 150 cube with 36" depth and with starphire glass? That looks fantastic. It's too bad the overflow isn't in the back so that you could make it viewable from 3 sides.
i agree the LR has cycled already.
The 3 brown zoas - sorry for the dumb question but you're sure they aren't aiptasia/anemones right?
Asterinas - I remove them here and now but unfortunately the LR I purchased was infested with them. I've seen gorgeous tanks infested with them also - so you...
There were 3 horseshoe crabs - one rightside up - the other two on their backs. She even picked up the one on it's back to show a kid -then put it back on it's back. ???
I realize it's a summer job - but it would be like getting a job walking dogs and insisting that the dog use cat litter.
I...
I went in yesterday with low expectations.
Conversation that transpired between me and the touch tank worker.
me: "why are those horseshoe crabs on their back"?
Her:"THAT IS HOW THEY SWIM"
I dunno what it was - but her authoritative way of saying this ticked me off to no end >:(. My wife...
just beautiful.
is it just the one tang?
quote: Naso tang, chevron tang, yellow tang, Flame clown he will have a new home when we do the switch. Lawnmower Blenny and a large goby
Nevermind - i found the answer myself. ;)
reefscience - i've never dealt with Chad personally but my friends have (this is 5 years ago mind you) and it was all positive. They only deal in live-goods - tfj is a drygoods store. That stated, i could be wrong but I don't think tfjpetcenter is online anymore.
Group buys (e.g. thru Premium...
That is those boxes you get for prescription meds - they usually have the days written on them - M,T,W,T,F etc.
You could then place dried pellets/flakes in each module so that when your sitter comes - they are not guessing the amount of food to feed.
That stinks. I had a friend of mine watching my house and he forgot to check on the QT tank. yes I should not have been QT'ing fish prior to going awy - but it wasn't a planned trip. Anyways the fish didn't eat for 14 days and needless to say it wasn't pretty when I got back.
if you have a pair of tongs, try and place some food down there for the CBS to eat (instead of it trying to go for your fish).
It'***** or miss with CBS - i've heard some horror stories.
Has your PH always been 7.4? seems low to me.
is that nitrate reading correct? That's fantastic but it seems too good to be true.
Any pics? might help.
stupid question but how frequently do you change your water? The fluval media might be too efficient at changing ammonia to nitrite to nitrate. What I mean is that it's generating nitrate faster than you change water to dilute it.
nitrates are a perpetual issue in this hobby. I've got no...
Thanks everyone.
Having backup power was always on my list of 'to-dos'. Imagine a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGG hat on my head that reads "PROCRASTINATOR". ;)
I will investigate all the options presented!
this club is great!
Power went down at about 8PM and did not get restored until about 9:30ish. When we called at 8pm - they said they would call back with an update at 12AM. ???
Anyways - I do not have any back-up. So i'm looking for thoughts.
Gas Generator?
Computer UPC?
Battery-powered air bubbler?
what do...
the phosphate test kits are pretty difficult to read - boomer could probably explain it better. One possibility is that the hair algae is uptaking the nutrients/phosphate and hence the zero reading.
the pH is low - look here for suggested parameters...
I agree with JR wohler - the same fish in the same size tank may react differently if one tank is placed right in a busy walk area and one tank is not.
Depending on the urchin - some will even pick up your frags/snails/hermits and carry them about. I just think they are cool to look at (famous...
