    Joys of DIY project

Thanks for the clarification. In my day, your choice was BASIC or FORTRAN.....I knew both...and C was just coming out. With Fortran, you had to first type out the command lines on punch cards using a special machine: You then handed in your couple hundred cards to be "run", just to get...

That is pretty neat! I like that organization. However, I have no idea what you are saying....hidden div; AJAX (isn't that a kitchen/bathroom cleaner); PHP file. Maybe if you translate that into Greek I'd better understand. o_O:eek: I'm absolutely terrible with dates, and this kind of...

I lost 2 Tiger Conchs last week

I don't have first hand experience, but I'd also be looking at that fire shrimp. Maybe someone else can throw in their two cents, who has experience.

I lost 2 Tiger Conchs last week

What else do you have in the tank that might find snails delicious.....wrasses to mention one...or maybe a rogue crab. Also, maybe something nasty, like eunicid or polyclad worms. As far as the cone snail.....aren't those things poisonous to humans?

I might be loosing the whole tank tonight

Bob, the corpse was in the side fins of the MP40, so I'm agreeing with your assessment that he was stuck on the outside on the powerhead and decided he was in danger so he literally puked his guts, nuking the tank. I'm sure the powerhead flow helped distribute his poisonous guts throughout the...

Also realize that once the asterina's are gone (and the two other stars you have), you'll need to now start to buy starfish to keep the Harlequin alive.

I've had asterina starfish for years without issue. What was told to be is that if they are light colored....white to tan....they are reef safe. If they are dark in color, keep an eye on them...might not be reef safe.

Where and how can I catch spot fin butterfly fish in NJ?

At low tide, you can walk Shark River bay area. I know first hand when I was sailing in the bay area while the tide was going out.....and ended up walking the sailboat back when the center board started bottoming out. I would think a mask and snorkel would be good enough in Shark River....in...

I might be loosing the whole tank tonight

Thanks again folks for the warm words. Here's the final assessment. My red and black cucumber committed suicide in one of the MP40's, releasing it's entrails to the tank. The following shall be remembered as upstanding members of the community...... One Yellow Tang One Scopus Tang Two...

I might be loosing the whole tank tonight

Thanks for the kind words and offers for help, but I'm good with the carbon changes and 50 gallon water change. Corals look a bunch better. I've only been able to pull out the yellow tang. Other then the two clowns, back to swimming normal, I can't find any other fish: 2 pajama cardinals...

I might be loosing the whole tank tonight

Russell, thanks for the offer, but I'm good with reactors and carbon. Anthony, that's my guess as well....The cuc nuked the tank. The only two fish I can see are the clowns...that are still alive. The Tangs are dead and suspect everyone else is as well.....don't see them. I'll wait...

I might be loosing the whole tank tonight

Not looking good. Just changed out the carbon....three cups. Any fish I could see is on the sandbed....and it's odd the wrasse hasn't buried itself....lights are out. I'm at a total lose!

I might be loosing the whole tank tonight

I just went into the fish room to feed and saw the corals po'ed and the wrasse and two tangs on the bottom of the tank, and the clowns acting real funny. The only thing I could see is that my ATO crapped out and pumped maybe three gallons of water into a total of maybe 110 -120 gallons...

    Calcium Gone Wild

I have the BRS 1.1 dosing pumps....they are rock solid. These are controlled by an antique Reefkeeper II to dose three times a day. I haven't investigate yet, but I'm pretty sure the Reefkeeper burped. I'll look at it tomorrow.
