Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Why add live sand? You can just as easily add dry sand and let it become live.
An easy way to add sand to an existing system without making a huge mess is to use a length of 4 inch diameter PVC pipe that is slightly taller than the tank. Stand the pipe up in the tank with the end resting on...
More miss than hit, unfortunately. 90% of folks that try dwarf seahorses as their first seahorse have total losses after about 3 months. They require 3-4 feedings a day of enriched 2-3 day old brine shrimp. Water parameters can be a huge nightmare in a tank that small as any fluctuation is going...
It's not just any sponge, they only feed on certain types of sponges. You would need to know where it was collected to even begin to try and figure out which species of sponge it would feed on.
No there is re species of valonia(bubble algae). It isn't nearly as invasive as the green one is. It is actually a rather pretty macro algae, I have deliberately put it in a few of my tanks.
It is totally different from red slime algae which is actually a cyano bacteria and not even an algae.
1. codium
2. ulva
3 looks like a sargassum species
They are all good, but if you are looking for something that will grow quickly and remove a lot of nutrients those aren't the best macros for that.
I get it too. It is just some calcium that precipitates out of the salt as it is dissolving. I clean my barrel out usually after 2-3 batches of water. Little bit of warm water and vinegar takes it right out.
The dragon faced take pretty easily to frozen cyclop-eze and frozen mysis. If you have to buy live foods for them it is going to get expensive fast.
Your best bet is to set them up in a bare bottom QT tank when you first get them and get them trained to frozen foods before they go into your...
Well most folks can't fit a garbage bag in their sump and two most household garbage bags are treated to keep down odors and bacteria. I wouldn't trust putting them in any part of my tank. Just a couple 1 or 2 gallon size Ziploc bags will do. You can also use frozen water bottles too and they...

Stop adding it and see if your alk goes down. As long as your levels are good you don't need to add Purple Up to your tank. The coralline will take off on it's own. If you want I can give you some more coralline scrapings to add to the tank when you come to get the light.
