astraes do a great job on diatoms in my opinion. Course I also have a mexican turbo and chestnut turbo i got from AqOb - and i have to say that big snail pulls it's weight. However it will undoubtedly knock frags over so keep that in mind.

The folks with big sumps can afford a large sand bed with the bac needed to reduce nitrates. But in a small sump - the benefits are limited...
