I like your thinking Mike! :D But I've already got the general plan figured out....it's the detail I'm trying to fill in. I'm going very simple float switch, wall wart, LED light. The light will tell me when a new bottle needs to be added to the reservoir.
I am now 100 percent convinced that the age of my old socks....either from their simple age, my washing technique, the swelling of the fiber, whatever.....reduces the size of the openings causing them to prematurely overflow.
With my new 200 micron socks, I'm back to 4 to 5 days between...
My ugly ATO water bottle reservoir is finally covered. Just finished painting the cabinet, and here it is. Now I get to look at that ugly radiator and that lovely green paint!
Thank you Marcus and Jasmine for host this months meeting. It was a pleasure and hope I didn't flap my jaw too much. Great seeing a couple new faces along with some of the regulars. Now, who's running for President? :D
When you're ready Marcus, give a holler and stop in and I'll give...
No, I think this is a clear case where size matters! I could easily see four inches going through a wash cycle without breaking.
I don't think I mentioned above, but the new socks I just purchased (from eBay) were also made in the USA....and the best deal I could find (four...
John, I guess that is a possibility....but the label says otherwise:
They are a different manufacturer....but look very similar (New on the left, Old on the right):
And I guess there is a possibility that the older socks already had a wider fiber....with the smaller hole.
But it now...
I just learned something interesting about mesh filter socks that I'd like to share.
Before I do that, I want to briefly review socks to educate those who aren't aware of the differences available in filter socks. (For those smarty pants reefers, you may wish to jump to "Conclusion.")
WHAT...
Paul, the tank looks great, but please!!!! We all know why you took the photography course.....hopes of becoming a photographer for super models. :D
Well Mark, that Router bit finally came out of the black hole and arrived and I rough finished the ATO Reservoir cabinet. It's a simple three sided cabinet with casters on the bottom to easily pull the cabinet out to put on a new water bottle. The woodwork actually sits about a quarter inch...
On the subject of Made in America.....I purchase four new filter socks this past week....from eBay....and not only were they a good deal ($5 each with free shipping), they were made in the USA! :D
So I've been sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for a new 3/16 router bit to come in to finish the doors for the equipment cabinet. I couldn't find the bit I had (probably borrowed and never returned) and ended up ordering one from a company that works at a snails pace. {No more...
Extremely high likelihood that I'm coming. Won't know for sure until tomorrow or Friday.
I have pulsing xenia and if I come, I'll bring it.....free.....but it will be fresh plucked with no mount.
Paul, you're starting to sound like my father in law back in the early 70's....true blue American car purchaser. The problem is that they are no longer made here. I purchased a brand new Ford Mustang II in 1976....father in law was happy as hell.....and that Ford had a German engine that...
Darn it, I was looking for an excuse to get out of the house!
So your daughter can lift a 120? So I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. I'm surmising she'll crawl under the tank and carry it into the house by herself!
Mike, I'm available!
This project has been sitting on the back burner too long.
Door Attachment (continued)
I had ordered approximate half inch Neo magnets from China, and they finally came in. I cut little pieces of wood that were drilled with a Forstner bit. The magnets were epoxy glued into the holes...
