The only disease that I know of that would kill fish that quickly is velvet.
Did you transfer the old sand? If I were to guess, I say ammonia did them in.....tank cycled again. Ammonia is very toxic to fish.
Thanks @BuGG !
Dosing Pump Stand-Offs and Container Holder
Well, my wife had a "snow day" today, being a teacher and now having the day off. That meant that I couldn't do my daily routine of playing with the tank and doodling in my shop. So I had to sneak down there to get a couple thinks...
Hard to diagnose without seeing in person, but the first thing I'd be looking at is the thermocouple. It is the most common reason a pilot light won't stay lit. The cost of the part is between 10 - 25 dollars. Relatively easy to replace. An adjustable wrench and some busted knuckles...
Thanks for the kind words everyone. Now here's more as this thing comes together.
THE BELLY OF THE BEAST
This thing evolves as I go forward with the various parts of this cabinet. I originally planned on simply putting a piece of plywood across the bottom of that wide center style to hold...
Wow Karen! First off, congratulations.
Now my kids are in their 30's, but I'm still not ready for that "Grand" part. That's for old people. The 32 year old is getting married in about 1 1/2 years, but she better not have kids for about another 10 years! I'm too young...
Finally have gotten back to working on the equipment cabinet. The first issue I ran into were the boards I had cut years ago that were now warped/bowed.
So I've had these two warped boards set up between two sawhorses for 2-3 days with 45 pounds of weight on them (a 27 lb piece of...
The breather tubes in the elbows are clogged.
I use a plastic coated metal rod (garden support) to plunge my tubes every couple months.
If you're close by, you're welcome to borrow my plunger....I'm in Sayreville.
Well, my first recommendation is, Don't do it!
But no one listens to me! :D
I've always been fascinated by laser engraved wood. You can get custom stuff done for a reasonable amount of change....in the 30 dollar range. Not sure about the picture....you can get a box where the...
You probably heard by now....a sonic boom from an F35 over Maryland. I was under the impression that they weren't allowed to go supersonic over land. Oh well.
John, are you sure you don't have a cut on your hand. 6 volts isn't that bad. I'm surprised you can feel that. Are you barefooted, standing in water to feel that tingle?
John, lets start with color again, with alternating current (AC) there is no "positive" and "negative" sides. It's either hot or it's not. So with AC volts, it doesn't matter what probe goes where. Red here, black there....reverse them, and you'll get the same result. If you wish to...
Wait, you put one of the probes into an outlet. The problem with this is that if you put that probe into the "live" side, you are simply verifying that your tank is grounded. You can use one of the slots in an outlet assuming it was wired correctly. The longer slot is the neutral slot...
OK, I spent over two hours looking at the truck thread.....the only thing I can say is that I'm envious. Extremely well done.
So I finally came back and looked at the tank. This does not look like the tank I saw when you had that meeting at your house....the one in the living room. I'm...
