    White stringy stuff

That's fine, I meant nothing by it. Was just throwing the info out there for the folks that may not know sea spiders actually do exist.

    White stringy stuff

That is not something you want to wish for as most species of sea spiders feed on corals.

    White stringy stuff

Don't pull them off. They are harmless.

    White stringy stuff

It is the feeding strings of vermetiid(sp) snails. It is coming from that white tube in the middle right of the first picture. Harmless hitch hiker.

    Battery powered air pump

I honestly don't think what you are looking for exists. All the battery powered ones need to be manually turned on. The one that Tom listed runs on electric and switches to an internal battery when the power goes out.

    Lighting/bulb question

They are decent bulbs. If they are brand new I would run them for now but think of changing when it is time to replace them in about a year or so.

    harlequin shrimp

I feed mine chocolate chip stars with no issues to the corals. Once the harlequins get a hold of the star they don't let it go so it doesn't get a chance to touch any corals.

    culerpa question

Grape caulerpa isn't really known for going sexual. That is why I asked what type you had. There are many species of caulerpa, some are more prone to going sexual than others. When you see it is growing too much, just take some out and you should be fine.

You are welcome to stop by and take a look if you'd like. I have some medium/large size pieces but nothing really big.

    New Tank

How much LR you looking for? If you only need a few small pieces I may be able to spare some. I am right down the road in Waretown. Tank is looking great by the way.

    culerpa question

What type of caulerpa do you have? Usually a good indication that it is getting ready to go sexual is you will see the tips of the leaves turning white. To prune it, just pull some out every once in a while. I prune when I see it starting to get too thick in the tank. If it's i a fuge You...

    culerpa question

The lighting period is only one factor for caulerpa going sexual.Whether you run the lights revers from or the same as your tank lights doesn't matter from the standpoint of it going sexual. Keeping it pruned back will help stop it from going sexual. I have been keeping different varieties of...

    Overflow question?

The bottom glass is tempered and can't be drilled like a normal corner overflow. You may be able to the back glass as long as it is not tempered also. A mag 12 may be ok depending on how much head height you will have in the plumbing and how many outlets you plan on having. Plus whether or not...

    Catalina Goby

Nope, sad to say those temps won't work long term. You may be successful for a few months which is nothing for a fish that lives for years.

    Catalina Goby

I've only ever kept them singly. Just be aware that they are a cool water fish and should be kept at temperatures in the 70-74 degree range.

    Toadstool ?

Yellow toadstools need a moderate to heavy flow and some pretty intense lighting. Usually T5's or halides. They are one of the few leathers that don't due well with subdued lighting.

It has arrived.............. OMG, this is scary

Looks great, Wendy. As for the Ranco controller, how do you know that is accurate? It could be the one that is off and your digital is correct. You will need to find something of a known temperature and check both against that. I personally find the glass floating thermometers to be the most...

    What happened to the POTM????

They are all in Atlanta this weekend for MACNA. The reason for the delay could be that they have been extremely busy trying to get things finalized to go down to ATL and spread the word about our MACNA next year. I'm sure it will be back up in a short time once everyone gets back and settled down.
