Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
Thanks
Clam has been a pleasant surprise we were worried when we bought it.
Me and my turkey baster beat the red slime with a little help from the fan.
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
Holy Smokes!!! 3 months I stink.
You all thought I wasn't even in the hobby anymore...oh yeah all my annoying posts. ;D
So I took some pics before but my bro-in law was here and he took some so I will use his for now get some more later once I...
Be careful when moving the sand .... you may want to rinse it before adding it to your new tank. Try to look up some of the possible problems. Better to have some extra water on hand for that kind of stuff IMHO.
Check out PA as they are doing a MACNA buy. So very good idea.
I have all T5 8X54 W, I love it check out JerseyWendy's tank if you have some concerns about growing SPS under T5. Think it boils down to shimmer and heat against slightly better color less heat and electricity. More your preference...
They are a pain. I got one from Jon and it tried every place under the sun and a couple not in the sun until it ended up settling in the back. I guess if it is happy and healthy that is where it going to stay. ::) Hope you find him in any case.
I am like a granny driver when it comes to doing things for my tank. ;D I am also really unlucky so I make sure to take as many precautions as possible.
You are probably right if you have enough clorine to kill your benificial bacteria waste will likely spike your ammonia levels.
I see I am a paranoid person about this but both compounds if introduced into your tank can be poisonous. Since the person had a low post count I considered them to be a newbie perhaps incorrectly but I would hate to see them put rock soaked in either then "rinsed" off directly into their tank...
OK I was trying to be nice but don't do it.
Here
Ammonia is a compound of nitrogen and hydrogen with the formula NH3.
"chlorine bleach", a solution of approximately 3–6% sodium hypochlorite NaClO
Clorine is not the same as ammonia. Not a single element that is the same.
Before you give...
I go from about 8.05 to 7.9 probably not terrible but one night without it it went to 7.76 ... watching it change is an intersting thing not sure if totally healthy obsession lol.
Bleach is not just ammonia. In a simple sense they sell bottles of ammonia cleaner and bleach cleaner not the same.
You could probably just rinse it off then put in the tank but if you have some organic material in the rock it is going to go straight into your tank and you don't need that...
You could add some macro algae as nutrient users. I had one of those biospheres that basically had tiny shrimp and algae and was a closed loop system. Worked great till the shrimp died. Basically same thing your attempting to do. Water changes will take out some nutrients think that once you...
PH probe is cool I have one on my new AC Jr...it is the one thing I have setup right LOL.
I'm a bit shocked at my PH swings at night since I have the fuge on reverse light cycle I wonder what would happen if I didn't have it that way. :o
