I am another vote no bleach or chemicals.
However washing, baking(oh your wife will love that), and curing in salt water .... put in small piece of live rock to seed it are all fair game.
One comment and one question.
I have not heard any foolproof methods that is why I dose by hand two part.
What method do you use to control PH with your top off water? Would a controller work? Opps two questions.
Honestly we should all QT our fish for a month or two minimum. I agree sort of with you but with hippo tangs you need to get them out of the stressed enviroment as quick as possible I think. Dr Jim is about the only person who I know does a nearly foolproof QT before selling to customers. Second...
I used Ich Attack same company that makes Rid Ich...would guess it is the similar. Ich Attach is really just mega garlic I think from the smell of it :-X. Unfortunately for Hippo Tangs that is standard.
Steps to take then besides what Phyl gave you.
Continue with the garlic, my feeling is it...
Man so many things wrong with this .... OK lets ask some questions.
Give a really brief discription of your tank.
Fish, inverts, corals.
Water parameters amonia, nitrates, salinity etc.
Tank size might help.
Start with what Phyl said maybe there is more or less you can do.
Where did you buy the...
I checked when I got home but didn't get back to you sorry. The base has four small rubber feet. There is not a place to attach anything to the bottom unless you took the feet out. It is quiet small 12CM diameter, perhaps on a small shelf behind the tank. It is enough to drop the temp in my tank 4F.
I agree completely. I will even add for newbies ... they wander around like mad... you have to "try" to get them to settle in one place and then not annoy(messed that up) them or they move again. Of course mine settled into the back which is good (doesn't sting the other corals) and bad (cannot...
I want to thank Bill for the bright idea about the pill boxes for fish sitters a great and probably fullproof way to leave food for your sitters. I used three for three tanks and it worked perfect. I also collected some sand, mangrove pods, and algae. I feel like such a forager ;D.
Hey Dave sorry I have not commented on your tank before. Looks really great. Funny we have some of the same corals like next to each other :D I did a double take a couple times.
How about a new FTS?
In Florida I collected some algae, mangrove pods(would have brought more home if I knew how popular they were could have collected thousands), some live sand and some tiny bivalves that didn't last long(snacks). Saw some interesting fish, butterfly, blenny, some sea squirts that I got to...
Figure 4W per gallon will let you keep about anything. So 4X24W is great for you. I have T5s on my 120 8x48W and have good growth from SPS to clam to LPS to Zoas. I have SPS up top then just figure lighting needs and place accordingly. I have derasa clam on the sand and with only occasional spot...
It is not a aquarium model small version I got from buy.com they were 18 bucks free shipping. Saw the same ones in staples for 24 so is pretty good price on low they are really silent.
