messed up - the 100 watts mentioned above would be run 24hrs - not the 8mentioned...so .1 kwh times another 16 hrs = 1.6 khw times 30 days = 48 watts more per month. So overall you are being billed for another 200 watts per month. That'd be about $20. I say ask the kids! ;)

lets see...i do hope someone double checks my figures... 220 watts of vho 325 watts of mh 100 (or so) watts for everything else mentioned 645 total. Figure you run them 8 hrs a day. .645 khw/h times 8 hrs = 5.16 khw/h per day. A monthly electrical bill is 30 days - so your lights are costing...

Actually nassarius vibex are carrion/detrius eaters - they do not eat algae whatsoever. But the snails may starve if nothing of substance hits the sand. I have never seen my nassarius climb LR - so keep that in mind as your tank looks pretty full. Always neat to see them "erupt" out of the sand...

Can you recheck the ALK? How is that measured...is it (meq/L) or (dKH) - I think you might be reading that wrong. I agree with mark - might want to increase the water change to reduce the Nitrates. I understand the desire for "digital" readings but the cost may not be justified given the size...
