Hmmmm well my AP has two chambers go figure :-\. And it looks like the one in the pic. OK well check and see if you can close it off in any case I think it is better to skim the surface, if you keep the entire hight of the tank open for me it didn't work as well and the sponge trapped ammonia on me.

The area in the back of the Aquapod where in the above picture the blue sponge is sticking up has slats/groves/sliding covers/pieces of plastic don't know what you want to call them but you...
There were slats that slid into my AP so you could close off part of the water intake to the back chambers. Black flat pieces of plastic that slid into groves. I think your ammonia should come down naturally as the bacterias grow and your rock becomes "alive" that is basically what they are...
I don't care what area we are in personally so long as we have our own group. I would guess the perception of Nano tanks has changed from special group to more common hobbiest.
Yes sure. First close off all but the top slat of your overflow. This will get the water coming into the top only and allows for better surface skimming. Then in the chamber I would run some combination of filter medium, carbon, and a phos remover. What I did was built a platform out of egg...
The bio balls and ceramic rings are do not have the ability to host the anaerobic bacteria that convert the nitrites and nitrates. Live rock is porous enough to host the bacteria within the rock. The bacteria converts the baddies to nitrogen gas that just disipates.
Korilia is great I have a...
This is from their waterproof strip section. I wonder what wavelength they are? Wonder if they have any other waterproof products? I have LED for my fuge but they eventually burn out. Waterproof is pretty important to in the back of the AP.
The membership it really worth it agree 100%!!!!!
But I personally just go with the salt water from Trop. I go pick up my salt water put the heater in and I am good to go. Lazy arse obviously but effort for 5 gallons and my time at this point it is not worth it. If I get a 90-120 gallon tank...
OK sounds like you are moving along. Good job on the RO. By the way you didn't mention your use or non use of the pesky ceramic rings and bio balls they give you with the AP. Ditch them ASAP. Mynd and I both have somewhat similar mods on our tanks take a look. Almost all the Nano guys have some...
Please let us know the end result. I can imagine that becoming a sponsor would be an incredibly helpful thing for a local company. I plan on doing an upgrade and would rather pay a local company then an Italian or Canadian one if I could get a high quality product. As Harry mentioned his first...
I agree you have to switch to RO water. ASAP. I would do very diligent water changes to help clean out the crap.
I had one early bad experience about the same time in my tank life as you, I killed a GBTA :-[ :'(. It roamed around and finally it died. You did the right thing by asking questions...
I too like the look and want my next(better be final or I will be hung) tank to be rimless.
Here is an option for you.

Not cheap or the Elos tanks are super too.
You are good to go...with the clam that close it should hardly matter, the bulbs are new so you are getting max out of them at the moment. Sounds like you have a great handle on all the cubist mods. Stay involved and get us some pics.
