Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
All good tips Mike. I'll add a few:
1. Pre-drill holes in all of your "top layer" rocks that will allow easy insertion of frag plugs. It's much easier to have a swiss cheese pattern all over and just dab some glue/epoxy on the plug and just stick them in when you get them... than it is to find...
Yea, I was going to mention that about UV and/or Ozone use. I wasn't sure if Herbie had either of that going on but they would definitely slow the bacteria colonization and thus delay the pellets from working sooner.
Wow, I'm surprised that JBJ sent you not only 1 but 2 replacements... and you weren't the original owner! That's pretty good customer service over all.
Maybe it's the camera or the lighting, but most of the SPS in that last pic appear to be dull or browning in color. I realize you're already working on the phosphate issue, so hopefully you can prevent any further damage to other corals.
I've got like a whole roll of that plastic mesh leftover from when I made a couple. You're welcome to have some if you want to try to make the pod condos. They're great to have a few in the sump and then just rotate them into your DT once they get populated.
They're also good to put into a QT...
Xavier, I think what people are saying is that that flow rate is too much for a 75g tank. Not that the overflows can't handle that amount of flow... just that it will be going thru the sump too fast to be effective.
On the other hand, I've seen your tank while it was up and running and it...
Yea, I think you responded too. I couldn't remember myself.
Is that foam forming on the surface of the return section? If so, that's cause there is a waterfall effect going over the toothed baffle. That's what I was talking about when suggesting to put the bubble trap on that end.
Guess...
I sent you a pic of my sump a while ago when you requested it. I prefer the skimmer/fuge/return model over the return in the middle model only because this way all the water flowing thru the sump has to travel through at least one set of filtration before going back to the DT. If you have the...
I would say you have way more than you need in there. My "rubble" is actually just baseball to softball sized rocks that stack up. Every few months I can easily remove them and vacuum out all the junk that accumulates in there.
I would also suggest getting a nice ball of chaeto and let it...
We have a vendor coming to our Frag Swap next month called Acrylic Creations. They make these really cool frag racks that hang on to the top of your tank and are tiered like steps. Basically, the lower tiers are wider and have more rows of plug holes, where as the top row only has 1 row. This...
