Cnideria is the phylum that fire coral fall into. It would be like saying we (man....Homo sapiens) are chordata. If you search chordata, you will get every animal that has a spine. You would be better off searching fire coral.
Brandon, thanks for sharing. Is that your golden?
Retrievers are the best breed with kids. This video reminds me of when my three kids were small and we would visit my brother-in-law, who had a black and chocolate retriever. My kids would persecute those poor dogs….jumping on them, riding...
Mark, are you waiting for that Atmann 2500 pump to arrive in the mail? If that’s the case, I have a spanking brand new Atmann in the box that you could have now, and when your new pump arrives, you just give me that one. Would that work?
I had to chuckle….after seeing your tanks a few times, I believe the list of corals you don’t like would be considerably shorter then the list of corals you like. Your tanks are packed to the gills with every coral known to man!
Oh, and those scolys look fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
Sorry to hear about this.
Who did you leave at home?
Round up the usual suspects and look for clues. In you case, floating soggy Cheerios or a pacifier bobbing in the tank.
I agree with Sunny….if you’ve got money to piss away on over-priced PH, then go with the vortechs. Otherwise, you’ve got a FOWL…..go with cheaper PH’s!
Mark, I have the SWC 160 which also uses the Atmann 2500. I had a similar problem in that after a few minutes the pump would stall…..still spinning, but putting out very few bubbles. I played with nylon washers (found at HD) and if I put three washers on the mesh wheel side, the pump ran...
I have run both internal and external skimmers. With both types I’ve also used a collection container that sits in a cut down salt bucket that has a float switch that will turn off the skimmer pump if the collection container overflows.
Great stuff Ed. I know first hand that giving back makes you feel a whole bunch better. I’m familiar with the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia, close to Children’s Hospital. I think this might have been the first one started. Great organization.
Now as far as the handbag for you...
I didn’t have the volume on, so I don’t know what they said on the video….but for a 75 gallon tank, I would want at least 1.5 inch pipe for my “down” piping. The “up” piping with the pump could be ¾ inch.
The problem you have now is that the ¾ pipe can’t handle the volume of water being...
Looks just like my tank!
In the process of moving it ump-teen times, the corners get chipped.. Here’s a close up of one of my big chips.
What I did was pick up corner molding and attached it to the corner using Sticky-Tack:
Problem solved!
McMaster Carr - I know of locations in Dayton (South Brunswick) and Robbinsville.
Grainger - they have a bunch of locations in NJ....search the internet.
Freehold Boro was hit pretty bad. I believe they have now restored all electric, but I still heard on the news that portions of Rt 79 were still closed. A whole bunch of trees down into houses and electric lines.
