Increased brown algae due to new MH lighting....

Does your new MH light have new bulbs? That's the first thing I'd correct if not. As for the algae, are you talking diatoms on the glass or brown hair algae on the rocks?

    Opening a can of worms...

Thank you all for your input and advice. We decided on buying the Canon EOS Rebel T2i, with the 18-55mm IS lens. My bro-in-law has a few different lenses that I'll be able to experiment with, including the 50mm 1.8 prime that a few of you were talking about. I'll take a few quick shots of my...

Apollo Reef LED's... anyone have them?

I'm well aware of your thread 35, in fact, I linked to it in my original post of this thread. ;) I'm likely going to copy your mounting rail system, or at least the idea. If you could post some par readings on your tank, that would be helpful.

Apollo Reef LED's... anyone have them?

Thanks Jim, I haven't seen that one yet. I think this vid is using the non-dimmable units from Apollo. The dimmable ones have better par readings than these, but the readings in this vid were pretty good too. Yea, it looks like the same housing as the chinese LED's, but the internals are...

75 Gallons of Entertainment! The build begins...

Wow! Browsing through the Tale of the Tanks threads, I realized I haven't updated mine in quite some time. I think I also lost a bit during the site crash and unfortunately I couldn't find a google cache to replace it so I'll have to do it manually. I was going to start posting some info on my...

Apollo Reef LED's... anyone have them?

Here's the vid Richie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=qC0barSQf2M I should note that on their website, they're now saying that since the Par readings were so off the charts that they redisigned them with larger "windows" and spread the bulbs out more. This gives...

Apollo Reef LED's... anyone have them?

AI was considered until I saw a video showing the par readings of the Apollo were almost double what AI's were. As for cost, here's a breakdown based on what I would need (not including hanging kits or mounting rails): 2 x $399 (Solar Blast Dimable) = $798 1 x Apex Jr. = $150 1 x Apex VDM =...

Apollo Reef LED's... anyone have them?

At the frag swap, I was talking to someone (I think he was from Knockout Aquatics?) who had a display on the Apollo Reef LED lights. I was pretty impressed with the par readings and it looked like a real quality unit. I'm considering upgrading to their Dimable LED's but was wondering if...

That's a shocker! Who wouldn't want that nice frag? If I lived closer I'd find some room in my tank for it.

    setting skimmer HELP

Sorry I didn't see this post all week. Yes, you want your water level inside the skimmer body to be right around where your arrow is. From there up should be all bubbles.

    Starting Bio-Pellets

I think Daniel said something about soaking/rinsing them also helps prevent the water clouding that some people experience. I'm sure he'll chime in here on this eventually.
