That was my very first thought as well, since I had heard of it typically being used with freshwater fish. However, this is the first I’ve potentially heard it used for saltwater fish. Is it effective against crypto, like it is for freshwater ick?

I could see were a front loader is gentler with the socks, not having the center back-and-forth swishy thing, (I think it’s called an agitator). I’m sure it’s that center swishy thing that ripped up my socks.
However, I will repeat, if you get mesh socks, you never need to soak them in bleach...

Mark, are you using industrial socks?…..12 inches? Regular aquarium socks are either four or seven inches.
I will still contend that 7 inch diameter, plastic ringed socks, either with black or white plastic, will be broken up in a washing machine.

I have no personal experience, but my hitchhiker reference states that the Shield Limpets (Scutus) are reef-safe. They are algae eaters (and maybe sponges).
