Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Glad to hear it Sandee. I always like to check your new posts because I remember you have your fish cam linked in your sig. I can't help but check it every so often. :applause:
Every year for Halloween, I carve a pumpkin. Normally, I tape one of those templates on the pumkin and poke lil dots along the pattern so I know where to make the cuts.
Well, after watching "Halloween Wars" I learned there were other ways to carve a pumpkin. So, this year I decided to try...
Wow, that's pretty cool looking Paul. I'm assuming you made them some sort of hats or matching upper body covering?
And are the lights powered off of batteries?
Unfortunately, I don't know much about this particular skimmer... maybe some others can chime in.
After looking at the manual for it though, it's recommended that you keep it in 6-10 inches of water. Is the water level in your skimmer section in your sump between those? If you're closer to the...
I like what you did with the cheap Kmart fans (previous post). How's that working out for you?
Looks like you sealed off the fish room about as best you possibly can so good job there. Did you ever do anything to ventilate that room also? I remember the other thread mentioned possibly...
How much bigger do you need to go Mark? Walmart has a set of 4 of these (42" long) for around $70. Kind of expensive, but that's for 4 totes and 4 lids.
Biggest I could find though.
Not sure how fast you need them, but if you contact one of our sponsor vendors who'll be going to the frag swap next month... you can get a good deal because there won't be any shipping fees. Ordering bulbs online usually has quite a large shipping fee, especially for the 48" 54w bulbs.
I'm going to a party this weekend and I just got a packaged costume at Spirit. I was going to try to make something, but couldn't decide on what I wanted... and ran out of time.
Here's what I settled on (minus the corny staff). The eyes are lights that fade in and out...
Good idea Jim. I never thought to check whether my water was treated with chlorine or chloramines. After finding my water quality report for 2010 (latest they have available) I found out they use chlorine.
No experience with "mud" in my fuge. I just have a few small boulders of LR along with some smaller broken off pieces, along with a large ball of chaeto floating on top. This is enough to create a great habitat for bristle worms, hermit crabs, snails, and tons of pods.
I guess it depends on...
Ah yes. I recall that thread from before.
And yes, it would defeat the purpose of the Kati Ani since you would now have waste water. That was the only way I could think of to reduce your recharges though.
I suppose it couldn't hurt to contact the water company and tell them you noticed a...
Not sure what you can do as far as complaining to the water company. I'm sure whatever they are giving you has passed "acceptable" parameters for potable water. They're not obligated to provide you with water suitable for aquariums.
What I would suggest though is to maybe install a simple RO...
Yea, that guy really needs an air system due to the size of his tank. That's a mini ocean he has there, lol.
I don't know much about the effects that SW aquariums/sumps may have on items nearby in your basement. But, if you do decide to install some sort of ventilation, I'd recommend you get...
