    Sept Meeting Thank You

Unfortunately I had to leave early, but luckily I was in the neighborhood and was able to stop by for an hour or so. I have to agree with everyone else so far... fantastic tank and a beautiful house. Couple that with very friendly hosts and awesome food (I wish I actually ate some, it looked and...

New to hobby. Need advise on new 30g reef setup

First off, welcome to the club and good thing you decided to ask questions before diving into the saltwater world (well, since you are a scuba diver, technically you already dove in... but you know what I mean.) This first decision is the one thing that will save you a lot of money and headache...

    Twin Spot Hogfish - FS - $50 - Monroe, 08831

Sunny, been thinking about this fish all day. I'd really like to buy it from you, but didn't realize you lived like an hour and 10 minutes away. I was thinking you were in Monroeville, which is only like a half hour from me. :frown: It's not a major deal to travel that far for such a great...

Ok to use as a saltwater mixing / holding container?

Sandee, while this 96 gal. can could technically hold that much water, and the material is most likely reef safe... you have to keep in mind that it was designed to haul garbage, which is much lighter than water. The thickness most likely wouldn't hold up (for very long) to the pressure when...

    Just got fios

Yea, your pricing seems pretty comparable to mine considering I have 2 more boxes than you do. Being able to add the cell phone in there would certainly make a difference though. We have 5 cell phones on our Verizon account, so that would be interesting to see what kind of package deal they...

    Just got fios

I don't mean to start an argument or anything, but everyone I have talked to that got FIOS wishes they never got it. When my cousin first got it a few years ago, he had to call me over to help the installer figure out how to get their internet working because he didn't really know what he was...

    No sir.....I don't like it.

I don't know if this author's prediction will become true or not, but I know I don't want it to happen! If making the book sound dramatic helps spread the word, then I agree with the tactic. Saving the planet is something that has grown in popularity over the past 20 or so years, but...

I was wondering if you had something to do with that Stan... ;)

    Twin Spot Hogfish - FS - $50 - Monroe, 08831

Gotcha. I just added what I thought might be my last fish for my 75g (Copper Banded B-Fly), but this is a cool fish that I wouldn't mind adding. It's not that big and wouldn't be a major issue with my fish to water ratio. Let me think about it a bit and I'll get back to you if interested. If...

    Grounding Probes – The Debate

Pardon the semantics Paul. I didn't mean to infer that what you were talking about wasn't proven. I just couldn't think of a better term to describe what you were saying. In hind sight, theory was probably a bad choice. Now that you explained it in more details ( I figured you or someone...

Calcium reactors vs Kalk Reactors ?

Thanks Mike. I'll look into those marine magic dosers. Sorry for derailling your thread a bit Sid.

    Grounding Probes – The Debate

Paul, this is the first I've heard of this theory. I'm no electrician but I was under the impression that the probe protects the fish too? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the damage done only if there isn't a ground? I understand what you are saying about not knowing you have a...

Help with setting up a 20L nano reef for the first time

And I recommend putting egg crate on the bottom glass, underneath your rock work. This will help stabilize it (the squares give it something to grip onto) and also helps cushion the bottom from any rocks that might tumble off the pile.

Just paid my membership... Saying Hello

Welcome to the club and good luck with the new nano. I'm sure you will find any help you need around here, so don't be shy asking any questions you might have.

Blue Hippo Tang in Hyposalinity QT behavior question

Dave, first off you need to be commended for taking on this group of sick fish. I know you got a good deal on the lot, but still it's great that you chose to care for these and hopefully bring them back from near certain death. As to the tang, I think that behavior is fine, especially if it's...

Calcium reactors vs Kalk Reactors ?

Unfortunately, I have no room to add any other types of reactors (I only have my BRS dual for carbon/gfo) ... so I don't have either of these to comment on. What I would like to comment on though is Alk and pH. These are two things that I've been struggling to keep in the "recommended"...
